(Updated) Animal control officer saves bald eagle

From the Morgan City Police Department: Animal Control Officer Desiree LaCoste responded to a report of an injured Bald Eagle in the Lakeside area. The first photo, by Ed Gil, shows the attack at the hands of another eagle. Officer LaCoste was able to locate the injured eagle and keep it safe until wildlife agents were able to arrive and capture it.
The eagle was taken to LSU Wildlife Hospital. Dr. Javier Nevarez said the eagle has a bad fracture in its left foot in addition to head and neck injuries, according to Cajun Coast Visitors and Convention Bureau Executive Director Carrie Stansbury. The wildlife hospital operates only with donations and grants. Medical care for this eagle will exceed $3,000, Stansbury said.
