Etta Welch Minor departed from this earthly home and transcended to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 27, 2015, in New Orleans.
Etta Welch Minor was born to Willie Sr. and Mary Welch on November 22, 1935. She was the youngest of eight children.
At an early age, Etta accepted Christ and was baptized at St. John Baptist Church by the late Rev. John Moore. She joined St. Stephens Baptist Church where she served under the pastoral leadership of Pastor De’Andre Johnson.
Etta married Terry G. Minor on July 9, 1962 and to this union they became the parents of five daughters. She graduated from Franklin Negro High School in 1953. She went on to attend and graduate from the School of Cosmetology in Monroe, and Young Memorial Vo-Tech in Morgan City. Etta worked as a beautician with the late Mrs. Eva Mae Hills and later at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s office, where she retired after 28 years of service. After retirement and staying home for one year with her granddaughter, Teryn, she returned to work at the Franklin Marshall’s Office under the leadership of the late Joshua McDaniel Sr., and Willie Rack.
Etta loved her family and never met a stranger whom she would not help, if it was in her power.
She leaves to mourn her departure five daughters: Michell and Adrienne Minor, both of Franklin, Terry Minor-Smith of Baldwin, Shari Minor-Patton of Ruston and Janice Mitchell (Anthony) of Baldwin; eight grandchildren: Damien Minor, Teryn Smith, Toyia Smith, Taylor Mouton, Kennedy Minor, Kamille Patton, Khari Patton, and Jamira Mitchell; two great grandchildren: Kenyon Smith and Ta’Liyah Mouton; and one sister, Gertrude W.
