ELPHEGE JAMES ‘JIM’ THIBODAUX JR.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date for Elphege James “Jim” Thibodaux Jr., a native and lifelong resident of Franklin, who passed away at the age of 75 on Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Franklin Foundation Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Jim was a veteran of the United States Army, having served an extended tour of 18 months during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Army after 27 years of loyal and faithful service. Following his Army career, he extended his military career with the Louisiana National Guard 256th Infantry Unit for 10 years, during which he ran the armories in Franklin, Jeanerette, New Iberia, and Abbeville. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 63 and the VFW Post 4201 and was also executive director of the Center of Hope in Centerville for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Pat Comeaux Thibodaux; five children, Chris Marcotte and her husband, Jerry; James Thibodaux and his wife, Paget; Elizabeth Darce and her husband, Glen; Tim Luke; and George Luke and his wife, Amanda; 13 grandchildren, Erin Marcotte Lawrence, Patrick Marcotte, Emily Marcotte, Jacob Thibodaux, J.J. Thibodaux, Morgan Darce, Carmen Darce, Grant Darce, Paul Luke, Brittanie Picard, Tammie Luke, Hunter Luke and Brad Luke; four great grandchildren, Aubrey Lawrence, Kimbry Picard, Mia Chapman and Clay Smith; and one brother, Jackie Thibodaux.
He was preceded in death by one son, Brian Luke; his parents, Elphege James Thibodaux and Marie Odile Charpentier Thibodaux; and an infant brother, Ronald Thibodaux.
