UPDATED: SHIRLEY GUICHET ALLEN
Shirley Guichet Allen, born in Patterson and a resident of Morgan City, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016. Wife of the late Cecil V. Allen of Kenner. Daughter of the late Ernest Guichet Sr. and Aline Fournier Guichet of Raceland, Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by her six brothers, Pierre, Ernest Jr., Everett, Lee, Morris and Harvey Guichet; three sisters, Anita G. Hebert, Louise G. Blanchard and Lena G. Plessala; her daughter, Marilyn A. Holle; and two brothers-in-law, Victor and Willard Allen.
She is survived by one daughter, Mildred A. Ducombes and husband Bob; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Joy DeFee.
She was a graduate of the Hotel Dieu School of Nursing and was employed by the Louisiana Health Department and Veterans Hospital in Shreveport.
She was a kind, compassionate and loving daughter, sister, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt to many nieces and nephews. She will be missed but never forgotten by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the Morgan City Health City Care Center and the entire staff as well as Journey Hospice who helped Shirley live a full live to the age of 94. May the Lord watch over all of you.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, March 17, at St. Stephen Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Entombment will immediately follow at Berwick Cemetery Mausoleum.
