Police: Two arrested on drug charges after ATV complaint

Two suspects were booked on several drug charges Tuesday after Morgan City police responded to a complaint of them operating ATVs on Park Road, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Wynn C. Whitehurst, 40, of Sixth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 4:56 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws, no vehicle insurance and misrepresentation during booking.
—Robyn A. Blanc, 30, of Sixth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 4:56 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws
An officer responded to Park Road in regards to a call reporting that people operating ATVs in the area. The caller further stated that two people had loaded the ATVs onto a trailer and were leaving the area.
Officers received a description of the vehicle, located the vehicle in the area moments later and conducted a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Whitehurst and the passenger as Blanc. Whitehurst and Blanc’s behavior made officers suspicious that they may be involved in illegal drug activity.
Police searched the vehicle and located suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a firearm. The vehicle also did not have insurance. The location of the incident was within the area of an elementary school in violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws.
Both Whitehurst and Blanc were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Jail for booking. During booking, Whitehurst attempted to hide his identity. Police learned that Whitehurst was a convicted felon and therefore, was illegally in possession of the firearm. Whitehurst and Blanc were both jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Jacolbi J. Francois, 18, of Cypress Street in Morgan City, at 1:02 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant charging him with probation violation.
Francois was arrested in the 6th Ward Morgan City Court in regards to an active warrant for city court. Francois was jailed.
—Juan Francisco, 37, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, at 6:59 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant charging him with possession of fraudulent documents.
An officer located Francisco in the area of Sixth Street near Freret Street, where he was arrested in regards to an active warrant. Francisco was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 35 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Heidi Songe, 39, of the 1000 block of Third Street in Morgan City, at 6:52 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of no seat belt and operating a vehicle with a suspended license. During the booking of Songe, a correctional officer located an active warrant. No bail is set.
—Kaleb Calloway, 19, of Bayou Vista, was additionally charged on a warrant for simple battery at 3:09 p.m. Monday at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center where he is incarcerated. On Dec. 11, 2015, a deputy responded to a report from Franklin Foundation Hospital of a possible battery.
The deputy gathered evidence that Calloway repeatedly punched and kicked a male victim while at a home in Centerville. Calloway remains in jail with no bail is set on this charge.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Tina Theriot, 41, of the 600 block of Point Pleasant Drive in Berwick, at 10:51 a.m. Tuesday on the charges of simple criminal damage to property and simple battery. Theriot posted $1,000 cash bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
