Morgan City Run for Life is Saturday

Cancer survivors, caregivers, volunteers, and community members will unite for the annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life of East St. Mary-Morgan City to help save lives from cancer.
The Relay For Life movement is the world's largest fundraising event to fight every cancer in every community, with 4 million participants in 6,000 events worldwide in 2015.
The Morgan City event will be 4 p.m.-midnight Saturday at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium. The opening ceremony will include a celebratory cancer Survivors Lap.
There will be a DJ, a fun jump, food, children's games and activities, a womanless beauty pageant and “Canvas For A Cure” painting on canvas.

At 9 p.m., candles will be lit in the Luminaria Ceremony in honor and memory of local people who have battled cancer.
