Police: Man tried to attack medical employee

A 26-year-old Patterson man was booked into Morgan City jail Sunday after being accused of attempting to strike an employee at a medical facility, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—William J. Carr, 26, of Fern Street in Patterson, was arrested at 10:32 p.m. Sunday on the charge of simple assault.
Officers responded to a medical facility on La. 70 in Morgan City in regard to a call of a disturbance. Officers arrived and medical staff told police that Carr had caused a disturbance inside the facility and then locked himself inside one of the restrooms.
Officers were also told that during the incident, Carr attempted to strike one of the medical facility employees, Blair said. Officers were later able to get Carr out of the restroom at which time he was placed under arrest and jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Ronald J. Armond Jr., 22, of the 200 block of Murial Street in Morgan City, was arrested at midnight Friday on the charge of criminal damage to property less than $500.
Officers responded to an address on Oriole Street in regard to a call of a disturbance. Police arrived and located the complainant and Armond at the home. Officers were told that Armond and the complainant were involved in an argument when Armond allegedly damaged a wall inside the home.
Officers observed the dam-aged property and Armond was jailed.
—Travis J. Morin, 32, of Shaw Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:50 a.m. Friday on the charges of driving under suspension, disturbing the peace, criminal mischief, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance laws.
Officers responded to the area of Levee Road near Shaw Street in regard to a call of a person in the street causing a disturbance. The caller further stated that the person got into a vehicle and was leaving the area. Police received a description of the person and vehicle, which officers located in the area moments later.
Police conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Morin, who had a suspended driver’s license. Officers then went to the area of Levee Road and Shaw Street where they observed broken glass and a garbage can in the roadway, Blair said.
Witnesses told officers that Morin was the person who had broken the glass and pushed the garbage can into the middle of the roadway. Morin was also allegedly shouting out profane language and disrupting the neighborhood when he got into a vehicle and left the area.
While arresting Morin, officers located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia on him, Blair said. The location of the incident was within the area of a local school in violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance laws. Morin was jailed.
—Michael J. Lancon, 45, of Arlington Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:23 p.m. Saturday on the charges of improper lane usage and DWI.
A patrolling officer ob-served a vehicle on Railroad Avenue travel out of its lane and off onto the side of the roadway several times. Police conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Lancon. Officers spoke with Lancon in regard to the stop when it was suspected that Lancon had been drinking and was believed to be intoxicated.
Lancon was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for further chemical testing. Lancon submitted to the Intoxilyzer 5000, yielding a blood alcohol concentration of 0.116 grams-percent. Lancon was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 116 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Danny P. Freia Jr., 29, of the 2700 block of La. 182 in Patterson, was arrested at 11:31 a.m. Friday on two warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. A deputy received information regarding Freia’s whereabouts and located him at a business in Bayou Vista. Freia was jailed with bail set at $200,000.
—Donald Graham Jr., 44, of the 500 block of Carol Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:03 p.m. Sunday on the charges of driving under suspension and on warrants for failure to appear on the charge of operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and for failure to appear on the charge of hunting migratory game bird with an unplugged gun, failure to comply with personal flotation device requirements, improper running lights, hunting in a wildlife management area without a permit, not abiding by the rules and regulations of a wildlife management area and possession of lead shot while duck hunting.
A deputy traveling on U.S. 90 in Berwick observed a vehicle pulling a boat trailer with no lights and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, Graham, and found that he was operating the vehicle with a driver’s license that is listed as suspended. The deputy also located two active warrants for Graham’s arrest. Graham was booked into parish jail and later released on $2,500 bail.
—Brian Corsey, 33, of the 1700 block of Jefferson Island Road in New Iberia, was arrested at 1:35 a.m. today on the charges of driving under suspension, maximum speed limit and on Iberia Parish warrants for possession of Schedule I drugs and disturbing the peace by using offensive language, for failure to appear on the charges of no seat belt and suspended driver’s license and for no seat belt and driving under suspension.
A deputy traveling on U.S. 90 in the Calumet area observed a vehicle traveling 85 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Corsey. While speaking with Corsey, the deputy discovered that Corsey was operating the vehicle with a driver’s license that is listed as suspended. The deputy also located three active warrants from Iberia Parish for Corsey’s arrest. Corsey was booked into parish jail with no bail set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Linda Durkins, 45, of the 100 block of Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:16 a.m. Saturday on the charges of operating a vehicle intoxicated first offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended driver’s license, license plate light required and child restraint violation on a 16th Judicial District warrant charging her with theft. No bail is set yet.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Shalonda Butler, 26, of the 1700 block of Rosario Street in Patterson, was arrested at 7:17 p.m. Sunday on the charge of simple battery. Butler was released on $319 bail.
