Sheriff: Bayou Vista man punched woman
A 23-year-old Bayou Vista man was booked into parish jail Monday after being accused of punching a woman in the face and pulling her hair, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Dakota B. Kleimann, 23, of the 100 block of Beau Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:04 p.m. Monday on warrants charging him with simple battery and for failure to appear for a drug court status conference. A correctional officer transported Kleimann from the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrants.
The warrant for simple battery was issued following an investigation into a battery that occurred at a home in Bayou Vista. The responding deputy collected evidence that Kleimann punched a female victim in the face and pulled her hair. No bail is set.
Hebert reported responding to 43 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Herman Sonnier Jr., 47, of the 500 block of David Road in Bayou Vista, at 6:13 p.m. Monday on the charge of theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of theft from a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy collected evidence that Sonnier returned items for a cash refund that he had stolen from store shelves. The deputy located Sonnier at his home. Following the investigation, Sonnier was released on a summons to appear in court July 25.
—Crystal Breaux, 34, of the 6800 block of La. 56 in Chauvin, at midnight today on the charge of disturbing the peace. A deputy responded to a disturbance at a motel off U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista. The deputy made contact with Breaux and learned that she had been yelling and causing a disturbance. The deputy advised Breaux to go inside for the evening.
A short time later, the deputy responded to another complaint of a disturbance at a nearby bar and came into contact with Breaux. The deputy advised Breaux a second time to return to her room for the night. The deputy then received a third complaint that Breaux was knocking on the windows of other rooms at the motel causing a disturbance. Breaux was jailed with no bail set at $250.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Gregory Williams, 56, of Prairie Road in Franklin, at 5:22 p.m. Monday on the charge of remaining on premises after being forbidden and on a warrant charging him with disturbing the peace.
An officer responded to a local business on Victor II Boulevard in regards to a suspicious person on the property. When the officer arrived, a subject identified as Williams, who matched the description provided, was located on the property.
Williams had been banned from the property as a result of a previous incident and was not supposed to return. Williams had an active warrant for his arrest and was jailed.
—Travis J. Morin, 32, of Shaw Drive in Morgan City, at 8:27 p.m. Monday on the charge of driving under suspension.
An officer conducted a traffic stop on Victor II Boulevard near Veterans Boulevard where the driver was identified as Morin. The traffic stop was in regards to officers investigating a previous complaint in which Morin was alleged to have been involved.
Morin also had a suspend-ed driver’s license and was jailed.
—Jacob N. Klenert, 22, of South Everett Street in Morgan City, at 9:44 p.m. Monday on warrants for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana, the charge of contempt of court and the charge of probation violation.
Officers located Klenert at a restaurant on La. 182 where he was arrested on the active warrants and jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Demarcus Durrell Jones, 26, of the 9900 block of Village Bell Lane in Houston, at 8:25 p.m. Monday on a Harris County, Texas, warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of dangerous drugs. No bail is set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
