BOBBIE JEAN OWENS VACCARELLA

Bobbie Jean Owens Vaccarella, a native of Madison Parish, a former longtime resident of Franklin, and a five year resident of New Iberia, passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at New Iberia Manor North with her sister by her side.
Bobbie was the fifth of six children born to the late Raymond Howard Owens and the late Maude Williams Owens. In 1985 she moved to Franklin, where she later met her second husband, Frank. In those early Franklin years she worked at the A&P Grocery Store, Sears and later on at the David H. Stiel Jr. Insurance Agency. She was also a longtime member of the Church of the Assumption in Franklin. Some of her favorite pastimes included gardening, nature watching, reminiscing about life and of course, dancing with her friends, the Franklin Line Dancers. Following the death of Frank, she moved to New Iberia, where she met her friend and companion, Ray, and has resided ever since. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her son, Tommy Brown; her grandchildren, Danielle, Addie, Autumn, and Destiny; her sister, Mildred “PeeWee” Johnson; her brother, Billy Thomas Owens; her companion, Ray LeLeux; her stepson, Larry Vaccarella; her dear friend, Cora Bouton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank A. Vaccarella; her brothers, R.H. Owens Jr. and Lee A. Owens; and her sister, Mary Helen Stratton.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Ibert’s Mortuary during an 11 a.m. memorial, with inurnment following in the Franklin Cemetery Mausoleum. Father Lloyd Benoit will conduct the services. A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday at Ibert’s from 9 a.m. until time of service.
