WSM second in District 6-2A Meet

DELCAMBRE _ The West St. Mary High School boys finished second while the Lady Wolfpack placed third in the 2016 District 6-2A Track Meet held here Wednesday at the Delcambre High School Track.
Led by Outstanding Female Track winner Naishaylyn Brown, the West St. Mary Lady Wolfpack tallied 47 points for its third place finish.
Delcambre amassed 145 points to win the District Meet ahead of runnerup up Catholic High of New Iberia which totaled 128 points. Jeanerette was fourth (30) followed by Loreauville in fifth place (16).
Brown, who was named Outstanding Female Track performer along with Delcambre’s Hannah Hebert, won both the 100 (12.49) and 200 (25.85). Brown also joined forces with Breasha Alexander, Keiontay Declouet and Tytiana Edwards to win the 4x100 meter relay in the time of 52.78.
Other top finishers for the West St. Mary Lady Wolfpack were: 4x400 (Jakyrin Conneo, Chyna Druilhet, Tytiana Edwards, Brandy Washington, Kiara Sampy), third, 5:01.59; Kiara Sampy, fourth, 400, 1:10.84; Chyna Druilhet, fourth, 100, 20.17; Brandy Washington, fourth, 300 hurdles, 56.61; Jakyrin Connor, fourth, triple jump, 29-03; Chyna Druilhet, fourth, javelin, 79-03; Keiontay Declouet, fifth, long jump, 13-02; Katherine Jones, fifth, shot put, 23-11; Takylan Hamilton, fifth, javelin, 75-08 and Takylan Hamilton, sixth, shot put, 23-40.
The Catholic High School of New Iberia Panthers won the 2016 Boys District 6-2A Track Meet with 145 points. West St. Mary finished as the runnerup with 96 points while Delcambre was third (96) with Loreauville fourth (25) and Jeanerette fifth (14).
The West St. Mary Wolfpack recorded five victories on the way to a second place finish in the 2016 District 6-2A Track Meet.
 Wayne Armelin led the Wolfpack to victories in the 100 (11.33) and the 4x100 and 4x200. WSM posted a first place finish in the 4x100 on the heels of Armelin, Torrance Ballot, Roderick Dominick and Shonathon Sparrow in the time of 45.06. West St. Mary’s Cristian Barard won the high jump (6-0) while Kharlee Lockley bested the field in the 110-meter hurdles (16.38).
West St. Mary also broke the tape in the 4x200 in the winning time of 1:34.41 behind Armelin, Cristain Barard, Roderick Dominick and Kharlee Lockley.
Other top finishers for the Wolfpack were: 4x400 (Tyren Abraham, Wayne Armelin, Tyren Connor, Roderick Dominick), second, 3:42.49; Tyren Abraham, second, 110 hurdles, 16.80; Tyren Abraham, second, 300 hurdles, 43.32; Shonathon Sparrow, third, 100, 11.73; Cordell Johnson, third, 200, 24.85; Kharlee Lockley, third, 300, 44.95; Howard Armstrong, high jump, third, 5-04; Devantae Brown, third, long jump, 18-03; Roderick Hudson, third, triple jump, 38-07; James Robertson, fourth, 400, 57.71; Tyren Connor, fourth, 800, 2:19.97; Howard Armstrong, fifth, 1600, 5:32.0; Toddrick Loston, fifth, triple jump, 35-10; Roderick Hudson, sixth, 800, 2:24.36; Kelvin Drexler, sixth, shot put, 35-03 and Javante’ White, sixth, javelin, 123-09.
Jordan LeBlanc of Delcambre was named the Outstanding Female Performer with Hannah Hebert of Delcambre and Naishaylyn Brown earning the Outstanding Female Track honors with Nicole Bouillion of Delcambre gaining the Outstanding Female Field award.
Catholic High’s Jadan Stokes was named the Outstanding Male Performer with Delcambre’s Dezzi Viator and John Crittenden earning the Outstanding Male Track honors. Catholic High’s Chris White was the recipient of the Outstanding Male Field Award.
