Police: Woman caused disturbance at business

A 23-year-old Morgan City woman was charged with disturbing the peace Tuesday after she confronted a woman at business, yelled and cursed at her and beat on a door, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Mariah C. Howard, 23, of Everett Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:31 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of disturbing the peace.
Officers responded a business on Federal Avenue in regard to a reported disturbance. While responding, officers were told that one of the people involved in the disturbance had fled the area. Police arrived when they spoke with several witnesses to the incident.
Witnesses told officers that Howard had confronted a woman in front of the business yelling and cursing. The woman went inside the business in an attempt to get away from Howard when Howard began beating on the door of the business yelling using profane language. Howard then fled the area, Blair said.
Officers were further told that Howard’s behavior disturbed several customers who were inside the business. Police located Howard in the area moments later, Blair said. Howard was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrest:
Thomas A Tabor, 55, of Cypress Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:48 a.m. Tuesday on warrants for failure to appear on the charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, simple assault, resisting an officer and on a warrant charging him with contempt of court.
Tabor was transported from the Ashland Correctional Facility to the Morgan City Police Department in regard to several Morgan City Court warrants. Tabor was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 25 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest in east St. Mary Parish:
—A juvenile male, 14, of Amelia, was arrested at 9:36 a.m. Tuesday on the charges of ungovernable and runaway juvenile. Deputies responded to a report of a runaway juvenile in Amelia. During the investigation, deputies learned that the juvenile refused to go to school and left the home on foot, Hebert said.
Deputies searched the area and alerted neighboring law enforcement agencies. Deputies found the juvenile sleeping at another family member’s residence in Amelia. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
