Police: Men booked on battery, assault charges

One man was charged Sunday with committing a battery on three people and another man with threatening a person with a weapon on the La. 70 levee in Morgan City, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Merlin P. Boudreaux III, 39, of Vine Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:27 a.m. Sunday on the charges of three counts of simple battery.
—Lee M. Banicky, 27, of Vine Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:27 a.m. Sunday on the charge of aggravated assault.
Officers responded to an area of the levee on La. 70 in regard to a disturbance. Police arrived and located several people involved who showed signs of a battery. Boudreaux and Banicky were identified as two of the people involved in the alleged disturbance.
Several witnesses stated that during an argument, Boudreaux committed a battery on three people at the location. Banicky was alleged to have threatened one person with a weapon. Both Boudreaux and Baniky were jailed. The investigation is continuing.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Jennifer Lozano, 38, of Mount Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:20 a.m. Saturday on the charge of felony domestic abuse battery, a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting and a warrant charging her with aggravated battery.
Officers responded to an address on Mount Street in regard to a call of a disturbance involving an aggravated battery. Responding officers were told that one of the people involved had left the home on foot, walking towards Railroad Avenue.
A description was provided when responding officers located Lozano, who matched the description, moments later. Officers also spoke with a person at the home who showed signs of a battery.
Officers were told that Lozano committed a battery on the victim while armed with a knife during an argument. Police collected evidence of the alleged battery. Lozano was jailed.
—Morgan A. Young, 33, of Pinhook Street in Lafayette, was arrested at 9:31 a.m. Saturday on the charge of simple battery.
—Tyraneka Lang, 22, of Canary Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:31 a.m. Saturday on the charge of simple battery.
Young and Lang were currently incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail when they were both booked on additional battery charges. Correc-tional officers responded to a disturbance in one of the cells when they observed Young and Lang involved in a fist fight. Young and Lang were separated and booked on the charges.
—Latisha M. Williams, 17, of Cane Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:46 p.m. Saturday on the charge of sexual acts prohibited in public.
—Joshua Barnes, 21, of Ditch Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:33 p.m. Saturday on the charge of sexual acts prohibited in public.
Officers responded to Lawrence Park in regard to a report of two people having sex on the gazebo. As officers arrived, they observed two people in the gazebo, later identified as Barnes and Williams, who appeared to be adjusting their clothing.
The officers spoke with several witnesses in the area who told officers that Williams and Barnes were observed having sexual intercourse while in the gazebo. Both Barnes and Williams were jailed.
—Kenneth P. Oconnor, 43, of Hill Road in Edison, was arrested at 11:52 p.m. Thursday on the charge of appearing in public intoxicated.
A patrolling officer observed a person walking in the area of La. 182 near Myrtle Street who appeared to be unsteady on his feet. The officer made contact with the subject, identified as Oconnor. Oconnor was suspected to have been drinking and believed to be intoxicated. Oconnor was jailed.
—Dalaina M. Renthrop, 23, of La. 663 in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 2:13 a.m. Friday on the charges of DWI second offense and improper lane usage.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle on La. 182 traveling out of its lane and stopped the vehicle near Seventh Street. The driver was identified as Renthrop.
Renthrop was suspected to have been drinking and was believed to be intoxicated. Renthrop was transported to the police department for further chemical testing where she refused the Intoxilyzer 5000 test. Renthrop was jailed.
—Daniel W. Gadberry, 36, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:17 a.m. Friday on the charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Jared P. Duplechin, 39, of Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:17 a.m. Friday on the charge of possession of Percocet.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling in the area of Fourth Street near Main Street with a canceled license plate and stopped the vehicle. The driver was identified as Duplechin and passenger as Gadberry.
Duplechin and Gadberry’s behavior made officers suspicious that they may be involved in illegal drug activity. A search of Duplechin was conducted, and officers located suspected Percocet.
A search of the vehicle yielded suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia, which Gadberry stated belonged to him. Both Duplechin and Gadberry were jailed.
—George D. Harvey, 34, of Cane Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:48 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to comply with terms of drug court for possession of methamphetamine. Officers located Harvey on Egle Street and arrested him on a 16th Judicial District Court warrant. Harvey was jailed.
—Aketa R. Francis, 24, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:48 p.m. Saturday on warrants for failure to appear on two simple battery charges and disturbing the peace by fighting, warrants for contempt of court and probation violation and warrants for failure to appear on the charges of criminal trespassing and disturbing the peace.
Officers located Francis at a home on Egle Street where she was arrested on warrants for Morgan City Court and the 16th Judicial District Court. Francis was jailed.
—Tony A. Kaufman, 22, of Augustine Maze Road in Franklin, was arrested at 4:39 p.m. Saturday on warrants for failure to appear on the charges of DWI, speeding and improper lane usage.
Officers located Kaufman at the Morgan City Police Department and arrested him on City Court warrants. Kaufman was jailed.
—Christopher W. Frye, 27, of Brashear Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:55 a.m. Sunday on the charge of DWI.
Officers responded to Third Street in regard to a suspicious vehicle parked running for a long period of time. Police located a vehicle matching the description resting against a utility pole with the engine running and driver inside, identified as Frye.
Frye was suspected to have been drinking and believed to be intoxicated. Frye was transported to the Morgan City Jail for further chemical testing. He submitted to the Intoxilyzer 5000 test, yielding a blood alcohol concentration of 0.124 grams-percent. Frye was jailed.
—Roy D. Skinner, 52, of John Edward Lane in Thibodaux, was arrested at 4:24 p.m. Sunday on the charges of improper turning, driving under suspension and no vehicle insurance.
A patrolling officer saw a vehicle make an improper turn at the intersection of Second and Barrow streets and stopped the vehicle. The driver was identified as Skinner.
Police learned that Skinner had a suspended driver’s license, and the vehicle did not have state required insurance. Skinner was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 104 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Riley Dixon, 26, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:07 p.m. Friday on a warrant from Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear on the charges of driver must be licensed, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A deputy was dispatched to Centerville to a complaint of a suspicious person knocking on the doors of several houses in the area. The deputy located a subject matching the description of the reported suspicious person on Chandra Lane and identified him as Dixon. While speaking with Dixon, the deputy located the active warrant for his arrest. Dixon was jailed with no bail set.
—Danny Dupuy, 37, of Julia Street in Amelia, was arrested at 4:45 p.m. Saturday on a Morgan City Police Department warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana. A deputy responded to a report of a disturbance on Julia Street in Amelia and made contact with Dupuy.
While speaking with Dupuy, the deputy located the active warrant for his arrest. Dupuy was jailed with bail set at $1,000.
—Carol Howse, 54, of Pecan Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 7:07 p.m. Saturday on the charge of simple battery. A deputy was dispatched to Cypress Lane in Patterson to a complaint of a battery. The deputy spoke with the people involved and collected evidence that Howse pulled a female victim’s hair and struck her in the face during an argument. Howse was jailed with bail set at $2,500.
—Layne Aucoin, 23, of Arlington Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 8:36 p.m. Saturday on the charges of theft of goods, remaining where forbidden, resisting an officer by refusal to provide identity, resisting an officer with force or violence and disturbing the peace.
A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy found evidence that Aucoin exited the store with items that he did not pay for.
Aucoin had previously been told that he was no longer allowed in the store. The deputy also found that Aucoin was yelling profane language as he left the business. The deputy located Aucoin at a nearby home. Aucoin refused to provide his name during the investigation.
While being transported to the parish jail, Aucoin verbally threatened to use violence against a deputy. Aucoin was jailed with bail set at $7,500.
—Robert R. Conner, 40, of Jupiter Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:14 p.m. Sunday on the charge of domestic abuse battery.
A deputy responded to a report of a battery at a home in Bayou Vista. The deputy collected evidence that Conner forcefully pulled a female victim from a vehicle by her arm during an argument, causing her to fall to the ground. Conner was booked into parish jail and released on $2,500 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Gavin Cage, 24, of California Street in Berwick, was arrested at 6:49 p.m. Friday on the charge of probation violation. No bail is set yet.
—Morris Hatcher, 28, of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 10:18 p.m. Friday on the charges of license plate light required and driving under suspension. He posted $1,250 bail.
—Derek Gould Jr., 31, of Versen Street in Berwick, was arrested at 8:45 p.m. Saturday on the charges of obscured windshield, driving under suspension, possession of marijuana second offense and obstruction of justice. No bail is set yet.
—Aris Granger, 29, of Trevino Street in Berwick, was arrested at 9:52 p.m. Saturday on the charge of disturbing the peace. Granger posted $176 bail.
—Holly Badeaux, 18, of Franklin Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:18 a.m. Sunday on the charge of contributing to the delinquency of juveniles. She posted $1,000 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Rodney R. Bourgeois, 61, of First Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:45 p.m. Saturday on the charges of DWI first offense, failure to maintain control with an accident and driver’s license not on person. No bail is set yet.
