ANN ABELL STIEL

August 15, 1934 -January 29, 2016
Ann Abell Stiel, 81, passed away Jan. 29, 2016, in Corpus Christi, Texas. A native of Louisiana, Ann was born in Rayville on Aug. 15, 1934, to Edward Charles Abell and Ara Dorman Abell.
She graduated from Baton Rouge High School and attended Louisiana State University.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Ara Abell, and her loving husband of 29 years, Leon K. Stiel.
She is survived by two children, Bill Daniels (Kathy) of Breaux Bridge and Cissy Daniels Tabor (Lloyd) of Corpus Christi, Texas; stepchildren, Lee Stiel (Debbie) of Houma, Hugh Stiel of New Orleans, and Nell Stiel of Lafayette; one brother, Ed Abell Jr. (Elaine) of Lafayette; one sister, Sue Hixson (Edley) of DeRidder; grandchildren, Lauren Daniels Tylock (Paul), Eric Tabor, Alex Tabor, Anne Tabor Vacek (Luke), and William and Kirsten Daniels; step-grandchildren, Sean Davis, Justin Davis, Johanna Davis, Cacey Avet, Katherine Stiel McCullough and Leon Stiel III; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Ann was active in the Episcopal Church when she lived in Morgan City, Opelousas and Baton Rouge, serving on the altar guild and in Christian Education, and she and husband, Leon were active in Cursillo. Ann enjoyed LSU football and baseball. As a wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Ann loved with enormous generosity and was greatly loved by all who knew her.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 302 Greenwood St. in Morgan City. Her ashes will be placed alongside her husband, Leon, at Trinity Episcopal Church.
