BILLYE FRANK HUGHES ODOM

Funeral services will be held at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin, LA, at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 14 for Billye Frank Hughes Odom, 84, who died on Friday, July 8 at 10 a.m., at Cornerstone Village South - Nursing Home. Her husband and brother were with her at the time. She was under the care of Hospice of Acadiana in Lafayette.
A wake will be held at Ibert’s Mortuary on Wednesday, July l3, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with a small ceremony in Eunice, at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 14. Mr. Robert Lowry, a good friend who performed many times as Pulpit Supply for the Grace Presbyterian Church, will conduct all funeral services.
Billye is survived by her husband, Jesse C. Odom; her brother, Baltha Hughes Jr. and his wife, Kelsie; Billye’s sisters in law, Norma Odom Roberts and her husband, Arthur Roberts; and Audrey Nixon Odom; Billye’s niece, Jennifer Hughes Marcantel Zachry and her husband Guy Zachry; Billye’s nephews, Ralph Hughes and his wife, Gwen; Charles Odom and his wife, Natascha; and Bradley “Brad” Odom-Harris; Billye’s great nieces, Lisa Marcantel Clement and her husband, Getano “Gee” Clement; Kristine “Kristy” Marcantel Dronet and her husband, Donald Dronet; Rebecca Marcantel Aucoin and her husband, John Yody Aucoin; and Katy Marcantel Shirley and her husband, Jordan Shirley; great nephew, Ralph “Billy” Hughes; Billye’s grand nieces, Kelsey Thompson, Taylor Thibodeaux, Caroline Clement, Halley Thibodeaux, Annie-Lauren Clement, Brooklin Odom; Billy’s grand nephews, Clay Aucoin, Logan Deshotel, Zachary Clement, Grant Aucoin, Aaron Aucoin, Wilhelm Aucoin, Seth Aucoin and Charles Odom III.
Billye was preceded in death by her father, Baltha Hughes Sr. and Billye’s mother, Mattie Ladonia Forsyth Hughes.
Billye worked as a bank teller for a number of years in Eunice at St. Landry Bank and in Lafayette at Guaranty Bank. When she and her husband started a construction company in Baldwin she worked at various jobs in the office until the company grew large enough to afford hiring office workers. She loved nice clothes and spent a great deal of time shopping for just the right outfit with all the accessories for each occasion. The department store clerks in Lafayette knew her by sight and called to her by her first name as she walked by.
