DILLARD JOSEPH DESHOTELS

Dillard Joseph Deshotels, 85, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016, at his home.
Dillard was born Aug. 22, 1930, in Evangeline Parish, the son of Isom Deshotels and Feloman Fontenot.
Dillard enjoyed being in the outdoors tending to his garden. He was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints and loved watching all the games. Not only did he love watching the Saints play, he also enjoyed watching old westerns with Gun Smoke being his favorite. He loved a good home-cooked meal and always loved spending time with his family.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three children, Lee Deshotels of Morgan City, and Arlene Martin and Linda Deshotels, both of Bushnell, Florida; five grandchildren, Brandy Deshotels, Chasity Maeser, Cameron Martin, Ricky Martin and Tyler Lane; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Terrel Deshotels of Opelousas; and one sister, Bernella Deshotels Meche of Mamou.
Dillard was preceded in death by his parents, Isom Deshotels and Feloman Fontenot; wife, Hilda Zikes Deshotels; one son, Ricky Deshotels; and two brothers, Varance Lee Deshotels and Atney Deshotels.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Twin City Funeral Home with Father J. Douglas Courville officiating. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Twin City Funeral Home with the visitation resuming Thursday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Following the services, Dillard will be laid to rest with military honors in the Morgan City Cemetery with the honors being rendered by the East St. Mary Veteran’s Funeral Squad.
