Essie Lois Hardaway Yonge

Essie Lois Hardaway Yonge, 99, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at her home.
Essie was born on Oct. 10, 1914, in Allenhurst, Georgia, the daughter of Emmett and Onnie Harrell Hardaway.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two children, Lois Premeaux and husband, James, of Morgan City, and Arthur Thomas Yonge and wife, Cinda, of Houston; eight grandchildren; 16 grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Sarah Deary, of Savannah, Georgia, and Dorothy Louviere, of Pierre Part; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Essie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merton A. Yonge Sr.; one son, Merton A. Yonge Jr.; one grandson, Merton A. Yonge III; one brother, Emmett Thomas Hardaway Jr.; and six sisters, Mary Miller, Annie Lee Bryant, Mildred Irwin, Jessie Mae Hardaway, Lillie Strickland and Marie Weaver.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at Pharr Chapel United Methodist with the Rev. John Locascio officiating. A visitation was held from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation resumed today from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at Pharr Chapel United Methodist Church.
