EVELYN MARIE TERRACINA GRANGER
December 2, 1926- July 27, 2016
Our sweet, gentle mother, Evelyn Marie Terracina Granger, a native of Opelousas and resident of Bayou Vista, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 89.
Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory her children, Karen Elizabeth Sargee and her husband, Jerry K., of Jonesboro, Georgia, Janet Marie Sons and her husband, David Sr., of Patterson, Gerald James Granger and Jackie Griffin of Baton Rouge, Phylis Grace Cook and her husband, Floyde, of Bayou Vista, and Joan Ellen Granger of Bayou Vista; seven grandchildren, Tabitha Sargee Treadwell and her husband, Gary, Jerry Allen Sargee and his wife, Olivia, Daniel Pedersen, Tyler Wyette Cook and his wife, Alyssa, Seth Adam Cook, Jessica Domino and her husband, Jude, and David Sons Jr. and his wife, Stacey; eight great-grandchildren, Robert Gossett, Kaci Gossett, Brett Allen Sargee, Aaron Andrew Sargee, Hudson Wyette Cook, Hannah Domino, Rachell Sons and Brett Sons; three sisters-in-law, Mrytle Mestayer, Ann Broussard and June Granger, all of Loreauville; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie Joseph Granger; her parents, Giuseppe (Joseph) and Mary Grace Terracina; brothers, Salvatore (Samuel) Terracina, Anthony Terracina, Joseph Terracina Jr. and George Terracina; and sisters, Conchetta Tuminello, Mary Lena Joubert and Dorothy Terracina.
A time of remembrance and reflection will be observed Saturday, July 30, 2016, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 6 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at 9 a.m. until time of dismissal at Hargrave Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 2 p.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista. Evelyn will be laid to rest in the All Saints Cemetery in Loreauville following services.
The family would like to thank all who assisted in caring for Evelyn, especially Dr. Natalie Dishman, the nurses and staff from Heart of Hospice, and most especially her caregiver, Jill Dart, who was a blessing not only to her but to her children as well.
