GLORIA MARTHA A. KEY

A Homegoing Celebration will be held for Gloria Martha A. Key at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at St. Peter United Methodist Church in Jeanerette. The Rev. Ronald J. Southall will be officiating. She will be interred the church cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, March 22 2016 at 8 a.m. and continue until service time at St. Peter United Methodist Church.
A native of Jeanerette and lifelong member of St. Peter United Methodist Church, our beloved mother and sister answered the call of her Savior whom she trusted in everything she did. He guided her to eternal rest on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at approximately 4:56 a.m., at Iberia Medical Center.
Gloria Marth was born the first child of the union of the late Rev. King George and Josephine T. Alexander. Gloria was the oldest dedicated member and mother of the church. She served as an usher, prayer warrior and a member of the United Methodist Women Organization. She was a member of Lucinder Pierre Chapter #32 Order of the Eastern Star and a foster grandparent at SMILE Jeanerette Head Start. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Peter United Methodist Church.
She was united in marriage to the late Gabriel Key Sr. To this union there were eight children: three sons, the late Gabriel (Almeta Faye) Keys Jr. of Maryland; Jackie B. Key, Wayne A. (Kasey) Key, both of Jeanerette; five daughters; Linda K. Stanton, Marsha A. (Ronald) Ward, Marjorie N. Green, Melanie (Giovonne) Nelson, all of Jeanerette; Cynthia N. (Bryan) Gibson of Baldwin; 23. grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; two brothers, King G Alexander of Glencoe and Albert A. (Dianne) Alexander of Franklin; three sisters, Lou Mary Broussard, Lou Myrtle Slaughter and Josie (Walter) Breaux, all of Jeanerette; one sister-in-law, Doris K. Stanton of Jeanerette;, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Leaving all to cherish her memories, she was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one son; five brothers, Kermit G. Alexander Sr., Lawrence Alexander Sr., Charles R. Alexander Sr., Morris L. Alexander and Colfax Alexander Sr.; six sisters, Juanita Simon, Thelma Francois, Shirley M. Rideaux, Annie B. Jackson, Francis Harris and Louretha Charles.
