MR. LESLIE ‘YEA’ M. BONVILLIAN

NEW IBERIA - Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Leslie “Yea” M. Bonvillain, 85, at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Fr. Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow at Beau Pre Cemetery with military services by the Iberia Parish Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday. The funeral home will reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday until service time.
A native of Berwick and resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Bonvillain passed away at 7:20 p.m. on Saturday, May 14 2016 at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in Lafayette.
Born on February 24, 1931 to the late Addie Joseph and Edna V. Martin Bonvillain, Leslie was one of three children.
Mr. Bonvillain proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. After being honorably discharged from the army, Leslie went on to work for Brown & Root out of Morgan City as a supervisor for over thirty years.
Better known as “Yea” by his family and friends, Leslie enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden, fishing, shrimping, and woodworking. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his children, Marcus D. Bonvillain and wife, Gena; Derek A. Bonvillain and wife, Rita; Kenneth D. Bonvillain and wife, Jan; and Carla Bonvillain; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty one years, Melba Ballard Bonvillain; son, Leslie Paul Bonvillain; parents, Addie and Edna Bonvillain; brother, Percy Bonvillain; and sister, Ethel Braud.
Pallbearers will be members of the family.
