RUTH SHORT SINGLETON
Ruth Short Singleton, 90, a resident of Morgan City and native of Gibson, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016, at 5:27 p.m., at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette.
Visitation were observed Monday, August 22, from 8 a.m. until funeral services, at 11 a.m., at the Railroad Avenue Church of Christ in Morgan City, with the Rev. Stanley Rankins officiating the services. Burial followed funeral services in the Union Bethel AME Cemetery in Amelia.
A perfect example of a hard worker, working three jobs successfully to make sure her children finished high school; memories of Ruth will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved, two sons, Lionel (Vera) Singleton Sr. and Anthony Singleton, both of Morgan City; two daughters, Jackie Marie (Joseph) Jones of Morgan City; and Dr. Virginia Singleton-Alfred of Lafayette; one sister, Mrs. Jim (Betty Vee) Mitchell of Houma; one daughter-in-law; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, one granddaughter, seven brothers and two sisters.
