VICTOR 'CAPTAIN VIC' JOSEPH GAUDET
June 10, 1927- May 4, 2016
Victor “Captain Vic” Joseph Gaudet, 88, a resident of Amelia, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Vic was born June 10, 1927, in Napoleonville, the son of Felix Gaudet Sr. and Rosalie Fryou Gaudet.
Vic was one who loved to be in the outdoors on the boat navigating the waterways. His love of the outdoors and fishing and shrimping led him to being a commercial fisherman for many years.
He was a master carpenter who could build anything and loved building various projects for his family. He was the most faithful and loving husband and the kindest and gentlest father that anyone could ask for.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 70 years, Barbara Bailey Gaudet of Amelia; five children, Newton “Bobby” Gaudet of Amelia, Eldridge “Cookie” Gaudet and wife Stephanie of Bayou Black, Ashley “Bo” Gaudet of Amelia, Marlene Melton and husband Hank of Houma, and Carol Doucet and husband Troy of Patterson; nine grandchildren, Victor Gaudet II, Amanda Gaudet, Casandra Wesley, Dawn Vidrine, Heather Guidry, Jared Lamb, Alayna Portier, Hope Vaughn, and Ashley Gaudet Jr.; numerous great-grandchildren; one brother, Louis Gaudet and wife Stella of Bayou L’Ourse; and one sister, Loraine Aucoin of Baton Rouge.
Vic was preceded in death by five brothers, John Gaudet, Gilday Gaudet, Hembley Gaudet, Eros Gaudet and Felix Gaudet Jr.; and one sister, Christine Verret.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at noon Friday, May 6, 2016, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with a visitation being held from 9 a.m. until Mass time. Following Mass, Vic will be laid to rest in the St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery.
