Assumption sweeps CCHS in volleyball

Assumption, Division II’s No. 1 ranked team, eased past Central Catholic 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-12) Monday in Napoleonville.
Central Catholic entered the game ranked No. 6 in Division V.
No individual statistics were available.
Central Catholic (20-10) will return to action Wednesday when it hosts Madison Prep, Division IV’s eight-ranked team, according to Louisiana High School Athletic Association power rankings through Monday.

Riverside tournament
The Morgan City High School volleyball team finished 0-4 at Riverside’s tournament this weekend, falling to Central Lafourche and Newman Friday and Ursuline and Dunham Saturday.
Against Central Lafourche, Morgan City fell 2-1 (23-25, 26-24, 8-15).
Morgan City had seven aces and five solo blocks.
Abby Reynaud led Morgan City with 10 assists, two aces and one dig. Other top contributors included Mckenzi Smith, five kills, one ace and three digs; Sh’diamond Holly, three kills and four solo blocks; Katelyn Gautreaux, six digs; Karmen Peterson, four kills and one solo block; and Emily Boudreaux, four aces.
Against Newman, Morgan City fell 2-0 (25-16, 25-13).
Reynaud led Morgan City with five assists, one ace and one dig. Other top contributors included Gautreaux, one ace and four digs; Holly, two kills and two solo blocks; Brandi Albarado, four digs; Peterson, two kills and one solo block; and Boudreaux, two aces and one dig.
Against Ursuline, Morgan City fell 2-0 (25-21, 25-8).

Against Dunham, Morgan City fell 2-1 (18-25, 25-18, 15-17).
Reynaud led Morgan City with two kills and 13 assists. Other top contributors included Holly, seven kills and one dig; Paige Loftin, six kills and one dig; Mckenzi Smith, one kill, two aces and four digs; Smith, one kill, two aces and four digs; and Twanna LeBeau, five kills and one dig.
Morgan City (4-16 overall, 1-0 in District 8-III) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to face Vandebilt Catholic. As of Monday, Vandebilt Catholic was ranked No. 3 in the latest Division III power rankings, while Morgan City was ranked No. 24.
