Berwick High falls at North Vermilion, 13-2

North Vermilion run-ruled Berwick, 13-2, in five innings in a District 8-3A softball road game for Berwick Saturday.
North Vermilion scored six runs in the first, two in the second and five in the third for a 13-0 lead.
Berwick scored its two runs in the top of the fourth.
Berwick was held to three hits in the loss, while North Vermilion, Class 3A’s fourth-ranked squad according to the latest Louisiana High School Athletic Association power rankings, collected 15 base hits.
Sydney Aucoin suffered the loss for Berwick. The junior started the game but was unable to record an out, surrendering six earned runs on six hits.
Offensively, Emma Hover led Berwick with a 1-for-2 performance with a double and two RBIs.
Berwick (6-10 overall, 2-3 in district) will continue District 8-3A play Tuesday when it travels to face Franklin in a doubleheader set for a 4 p.m. start.
