CCHS' Hallie Autin earns 1st-team all-state honors

Central Catholic had one selection on the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Class 1A All-State softball team.
Central Catholic junior infielder Hallie Autin was named to the first-team. Autin finished her junior season with a .442 batting average with 10 doubles, four triples, five home runs, 46 RBIs, 35 runs and 12 stolen bases. She also sported an .847 fielding percentage.
“Hallie’s the type of kid I could play anywhere,” Central Catholic coach Joe Russo said. “She started out for me for the outfield, and we moved her into the infield. … She’s just an all-around athlete and an all-around kid.”
She was joined on the first team by another District 7-1A representative, infielder Zanesia Bernard of Vermilion Catholic.
Honorable mention selections from District 7-1A included Hanson’s Sarah Sonnier and Paige Diamond and Vermilion Catholic’s Taylor Abshire and Bella Doucet.
Lauren Doucet of Class 1A state champion Catholic-Pointe Coupee was named Coach of the Year, while Julia Beck of Ascension Catholic was named the 1A Outstanding Player.
