BJHS sweeps Bourgeois Relays

Berwick Junior High School swept the girls’ and boys’ team titles at the Tommy Bourgeois Relays March 14 at Geisler Stadium in Berwick.
In boys’ action, Berwick totaled 112 points, while in girls’ action, Berwick Junior High totaled 108 points.
On the boys’ side, Irvin Celestin of Patterson was the Field MVP, while Tyson Jones of Berwick was the Track MVP.
Celestine took the long jump, triple jump and high jump titles. Celestine’s winning attempt in the long jump was 16½ feet, while his triple jump attempt was 32 feet, 1.25 inches and his high jump attempt was 5 feet.
Jones won the 200 meter dash in 27.03, while Jones was third in the 400-meter dash at 1:02.48.
On the girls’ side, Morgan City’s Jaden Walker was the Field MVP, while Lauren Cantrelle was Track MVP.
Walker won the long jump and triple jump with leaps of 12 feet, 5.5 inches and 28 feet, 9 inches, respectively.
Cantrelle took the 1,600-meter run, 800-meter run and 3,200-meter run with times of 6:08.19, 3:02 and 15:31, respectively.
