Berwick softball
game suspended
Berwick and New Iberia’s softball game Monday was suspended due to darkness and will be concluded at a time to be announced.
At the time of the suspension, the teams were tied at 4 at the conclusion of the eighth inning.
Berwick (0-4) will return to action today when it hosts H.L. Bourgeois in a 3:30 p.m. contest.

Morgan City game
rained out
The Morgan City Lady Tigers’ contest at Plaquemine Monday was rained out. The game has been rescheduled for March 23 at 4 p.m.
Morgan City (3-2) will return to action Wednesday when it travels to face Lutcher in a 4 p.m. contest.

Tennis lessons kicking off
Quick Start Junior Tennis League and Little Tennis will begin next week at the Morgan City Recreation Department’s tennis courts in Morgan City.
The Quick Start program, for ages 7-12, uses smaller racquets, foam and low compression balls, and smaller court sizes to get youngsters playing matches as young as possible.
Sessions will be held beginning Monday and continue for five weeks on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Players should attend two of three classes per week.
The cost is $90 per session.
Match play will be included with the classes.
A tournament will be announced.
Little Tennis, for ages 3.5 to 6, will be held Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:15 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the five-week period beginning Monday.
Players also should attend two of three days per week.

These recreation programs are under the direction of Strictly Tennis.

Amelia baseball/T-ball registration
Baseball and T-ball registration is being held in Amelia through March 13.
Participates can sign up at the Amelia Recreation Center.
The different leagues are:
—Boys’ and girls’ T-Ball (ages 4-6).
—Boys’ Pitching Machine (ages 7-8).
—Boys’ baseball (9-10).
—Boys’ baseball (11-12).
—Boys’ baseball (13-15).
Assistants and volunteers are needed, too.
Also, a free coaching clinic will be held March 13-14. It is open to those ages 7-15.
Among the items that will be covered are pitching, fielding and game rules.

Softball league
registration set
Berwick/Bayou Vista Softball League registration will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Berwick Civic Complex.
The last day to register will be March 19.
MCRD holding spring sports registrations
The Morgan City Recreation Department is taking applications for its 2015 season for T-ball, baseball and softball.
To participate in the appropriate leagues, participants must be ages 5-12 on or before May 1 of the current year.
To register, provide a copy of the child’s birth certificate and player registration fee of $40.
Applications will be accepted at the recreation department Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office will be closed daily from 12:30 p.m. 1:30 p.m.
The recreation office is located at 915 Everett St.
