Teen found in LSU locker room faces burglary, drug counts
BATON ROUGE — LSU police have arrested a teenager who was found in a Tiger Stadium locker room with small quantities of drugs.
The teen was found in the locker room Thursday night. When police searched him, they found prescription pills and a small amount of heroin. When investigators questioned him Friday, he told them that some basketball shoes reported stolen from a locker room in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center were at his house.
Police later said they found two pairs of missing LSU basketball shoes at the teenager’s home.
Capt. Cory Lalonde, an LSU police spokesman, said the teen told authorities he entered the athletic venues through unsecured doors.
The 17-year-old was booked on burglary and various drug charges. His bail was set at $27,500.
The teenager told investigators he was a McKinley High School basketball player who had permission to lift weights at LSU, according to LSU police. But McKinley’s coach said the teen tried out for, but didn’t make, the McKinley team. He also wasn’t allowed in the LSU weight room.
