3rd state auditor arrested on fraud charges

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A third state auditor from the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services has been arrested on a fraud charge.
U.S. Attorney Walt Green says 33-year-old Corey Polk, of Baton Rouge, was arrested on charges of federal programs fraud.
Nola.com/The Times-Picayune reports (http://bit.ly/1uddZPc ) Polk was a managing auditor in the department's Bureau of Auditing and Compliance Services which, among other tasks, investigates fraud committed by department employees.
Green's statement Thursday said Polk and his supervisor, audit director Delrice Augustus, used purchasing cards for personal items then submitted fraudulent documents to receive reimbursement from the state for travel that never occurred. The state then paid the requested amount, which Polk and Augustus split.
Augustus and another employee, Kaneasha Goston, both of Baton Rouge, were also arrested for a similar alleged scheme.
