Amelia man arrested on warrant for aggravated assault with a firearm

An 18-year-old Amelia man was arrested Wednesday by St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s deputies on a warrants stemming from a March 1 incident where the man allegedly fired several gunshots in Amelia.

Christopher Singleton of Friendship Alley in Amelia was arrested at 1:03 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for aggravated assault with a firearm and aggravated criminal damage to property. Deputies located Singleton at his residence on the warrant, which stems from an investigation which began on March 1. A complainant went to the sheriff’s office in Morgan City and reported that a subject fired several gunshots into a vehicle on Friendship Alley. The detective working the case identified Singleton as the suspect who fired the weapon at the vehicle. Singleton was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrest:

—Charles Chandler II, 21, of Sun Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 4 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of synthetic cannabinoids second offense, abuse of toxic vapors, and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles. A deputy responded to a complaint of an unresponsive person who was in a running vehicle in the parking lot of Walmart in Bayou Vista. The deputy determined that the subject, identified as Chandler, was sleeping. He was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

Patterson police arrested the following:

—Daniel Leron, 37, of Louisa Street in Patterson, was arrested at 3:45 a.m. March 14 for speeding and no driver’s license. Leron is still being held.

—Damini Pratt, 28, of Terrebonne Street in Morgan City, was arrested at noon March 14 for speeding, careless operation and driving under suspension. Pratt paid the fine and was released.

—John Lyons, 47, of Irish Bend Road in Franklin, was arrested at 5:30 p.m. March 14 for criminal damage to property. Lyons was released on bail.

—Brent Charles, 30, of Headland Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:04 p.m. March 14 for loud music and on a warrant for discharge of a firearm and disturbing the peace. Charles paid the fine and was released.

—Carmel Triggs, 31, of Tall Timbers Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 11:52 p.m. Friday on a warrant for disturbing the peace intoxicated. Triggs is still being held.

—John Hughes Jr., 32, of Leo Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 11:57 a.m. Sunday for suspended driver’s license and speeding. Hughes paid the fine and was released.

—Keith Smith, 45, of First Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:41 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for resisting arrest by flight and simple assault. Smith is still being held.

—Wanya Francis, 18, of Live Oak Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:59 p.m. Monday on a warrant for theft more than $500. Francis is still being held.

—Alonzo Bennett, 27, of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Patterson, was arrested at 4:37 p.m. Monday for loud music in vehicle and no driver’s license. Bennett paid the fine and was released.

—James Joseph, 61, of Paradise Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday for theft less than $300 and criminal trespass. Joseph was released on bail.

Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported no arrests.

Berwick Police James Richard reported no arrests.
