A 34-year-old Youngsville woman nearly struck a parked vehicle Friday evening and then fled from a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy for several miles before stopping, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Jessica E. Hotard, 34, of the 100 block of Squirrel Run in Youngsville, was arrested at 7:29 p.m. Friday for reckless operation of a vehicle and flight from an officer. A deputy observed a vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit on Uranus Road in Bayou Vista.
The driver nearly struck a parked vehicle, forced another vehicle to the side of the road, and failed to stop at a stop sign at the La. 182 intersection, Hebert said. The deputy initiated a traffic stop as the vehicle entered onto U.S. 90. The driver of the vehicle initially failed to pull over travelling for several miles before stopping, the sheriff said. The driver, identified as Hotard, was jailed and released on $5,000 bail.
Hebert reported responding to 125 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Casey David, 36, of the 600 block of Magnolia Ridge Road in Boutte, was arrested at 6:34 p.m. Sunday for simple battery. A deputy responded to a complaint of a fight in progress at a business on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista. The deputy learned that David and another man were involved in an argument that escalated into a physical encounter when David struck the male victim, Hebert said. David was jailed and released on $500 bail.
—Tony Kaufman, 20, of the 800 block of Magnolia Street in Amelia, was arrested at 4:49 p.m. Friday at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City on a warrant for probation violation out of San Patricio County in Texas. Kaufman was jailed with no bail set.
—Jade May, 21, of the 400 block of Mike Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 12:18 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear. A deputy conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle on La. 182 made contact with a passenger in the vehicle identified as May. The deputy discovered that May was wanted on an active warrant. May was jailed and released on $2,000 bail.
—Brandon Mitchell, 32, of the 1000 block of Woodview Court in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:11 a.m. Saturday on two warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. A deputy received information from St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office regarding the whereabouts of Mitchell who was wanted on active warrants. With the assistance of St. Martin Parish deputies, Mitchell was located at a residence on Dawn Drive in Stephensville. He was jailed with bail set at $200,000.
—Veronica Lynch, 39, of the 100 block of Shannon Street in Patterson, was arrested at 10:33 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for domestic abuse battery. A deputy responding to a complaint on Shannon Street made contact with Lynch and learned of the active warrant for her arrest.
The warrant stems from an investigation into a domestic disturbance at a residence on Marin Lane in Patterson in which Lynch scratched a male victim during an argument. Lynch was jailed with no bail set.
—Jason Leblanc, 37, of the 100 block of Lagonda Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 6:45 p.m. Saturday for violating the parish leash law and vicious animal ordinances. A deputy responded to a complaint of a pit bull dog running loose in the Lagonda Lane area.
The deputy observed the pit bull running loose without a leash. Leblanc then exited a nearby residence and retrieved the dog. The deputy identified Leblanc as the owner of the animal. The deputy referred Leblanc to the St. Mary Parish Animal Control Center for further information on the parish ordinance regarding pit bulls. Leblanc was released on a summons to appear in court Nov. 14.
—John K. Buck, 27, of the 200 block of Ricohoc Drive in Ricohoc, was arrested at 9:29 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear. Buck was transported from Neshoba County jail in Philadelphia, Mississippi, to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville on the warrant. No bail is set.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Jerome P. Loupe, 36, of Aucoin Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:47 a.m. Sunday on an Assumption Parish warrant for simple battery. Loupe was located at an Aucoin Street residence. He was taken to the Morgan City Jail where he remains.
—Brandon L. Grant, 39, of Utah Street in Berwick, was arrested at 9:17 p.m. Sunday for entry on premises after being forbidden.
Officers were dispatched to a La. 182 motel to remove a person. Officers removed Grant from the premises and advised him not to return. Grant left, but later returned to the property at which time management summoned police, Banks said. Grant was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—John Henry, 41, of Texas Street in Berwick, was arrested at 7 a.m. Friday on a warrant for criminal damage to property more than $500. Henry was released on $2,000 bail.
—Johnny Giroir, 20, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 1:04 a.m. Sunday for domestic abuse battery, simple criminal damage to property less than $500. Giroir is accused of striking two people and also breaking a TV. Giroir was jailed awaiting bail to be set.
—Eric Fontenot, 56, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 9:29 a.m. Sunday on a Patterson police warrant for violation of a protective order and on a St. Martin Parish warrant for theft of crawfish traps. Fontenot was transferred to the Patterson Police Department.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Jimmy R. Martin Jr., 48, of the 1400 block of Haver Hill in Pride, was arrested at 6:30 p.m. Friday for driving while intoxicated. Martin was jailed with no bail set.
—Earl Davis Jr., 51, of the 1900 block of Frenchman Street in New Orleans, was arrested at 8:41 p.m. Sunday for possession of stolen things (vehicle). Davis was jailed with no bail set.
Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrest relating to east St. Mary Parish:
The following five arrests stem from officers responding to a report of a vehicle driving carelessly and throwing fireworks. All were arrested at 10:35 p.m. Friday.
—Bryce Ronsonet, 18, of La. 182, in Patterson, was charged with possession of alcohol by people under age 21 and illegal discharge of fireworks. Ronsonet was released on $1,000 bail.
—Payten Kellebrew, 19, of Palfrey Street in Franklin, was charged with possession of alcohol by people under age 21, open alcoholic container, and careless operation. Kellebrew was released on $1,000 bail.
—Dustin Rogers, 19, of Cypress Street in Franklin, was charged with possession of alcohol by people under age 21. Rogers was released on $500 bail.
—Kameron Clements, 19, of La. 87 in Franklin, was charged with possession of alcohol by persons under age 21. Clements was released on $500 bail.
—Alex Chauvin, 18, of Oak Street in Franklin, was charged with possession of alcohol by people under age 21. Chauvin was released on $500 bail.
