A 26-year-old Bayou L’Ourse man was arrested Sunday after being accused of pointing a gun at three people upon entering a Centerville residence during a domestic dispute, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
Jerret Cortez, 26, of the 200 block of Vivian Street in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 12:18 p.m. Sunday for aggravated assault with a firearm in the presence of a child, possession of a firearm or carrying a concealed weapon by a person convicted of certain felonies, illegal carrying of weapons, and disturbing the peace.
Deputies responded to a report of a person entering a residence on Yellow Bayou Road in Centerville and brandishing a gun.
Cortez was detained by deputies who located a handgun where Cortez had been seated, Hebert said. During the investigation, deputies determined that Cortez went to the residence because of a domestic dispute, the sheriff said. While at the residence, Cortez brandished the weapon at three people, the sheriff said. Cortez was jailed with no bail is set.

Bayou Vista man charged with strangulation
A 24-year-old Bayou Vista man was jailed Saturday after striking a woman in the head and grabbing her by the throat, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Luis Martinez-Perez, 24, of the 400 block of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 4:14 a.m. Saturday for domestic abuse battery strangulation. A deputy investigating a complaint of domestic abuse at a residence in Bayou Vista determined that Martinez-Perez and a woman were involved in an argument when he struck the woman in the head and grabbed her by the throat, the sheriff said. Martinez-Perez was jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 124 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Angel Laine, 42, of the 100 block of Francis Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 5:18 p.m. Saturday for driving while intoxicated third offense and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. A deputy responded to a vehicle crash in the parking lot of a business on La. 182 in Bayou Vista.
The deputy made contact with one of the drivers involved in the crash, Laine, and observed several indicators of impairment, Hebert said. Laine registered .240 grams-percent blood alcohol concentration. Laine was jailed with no bail set.
—Ryan Romero, 32, of the 500 block of N. Robertson Street in Delcambre, was arrested at 7:02 p.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of failure to signal a lane change and texting while driving. A Franklin police officer contacted the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office regarding a traffic stop conducted on a vehicle driving recklessly in the Patterson area, Hebert said. Romero was jailed
—Laquandre Freeman, 17, of the 700 block of Scotty Street in Franklin, was arrested at 8:27 p.m. Friday for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Freeman was released on a summons to appear in court Nov. 14.
Steven Legnon, 21, of the 100 block of Legnon Court in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:19 p.m. Saturday for simple criminal damage to property. A deputy responded to a complaint of criminal damage to property that occurred at a business on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista. The deputy learned from the complainant that Legnon damaged a cell phone during an argument. Legnon came to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City in reference to the investigation and was subsequently arrested. Legnon was jailed and released on a summons to appear in court Nov. 14.
—Derick Brown, 21, of the 400 block of Main Street in Franklin, was arrested at 1:15 p.m. Sunday for theft.
—Jokierra Freeman, 19, of the 100 block of St. Joseph Lane in Franklin, was arrested at 1:15 p.m. Sunday for theft.
A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy learned from store personnel that Brown and Freeman were seen taking items from the shelves of the store and attempting to return them for a refund at the customer service desk, Hebert said. Brown and Freeman were released on summonses to appear in court Nov. 14.
—Tia Campbell, 41, of the 500 block of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:31 p.m. Sunday for theft.
—Brian Johnson, 52, of the 400 block of Halsey Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:59 p.m. Sunday for theft and remaining where forbidden.
A deputy responding to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista received information that one of two suspected shoplifters was attempting to leave the area. The deputy located and detained a man who was walking in the area. The man, identified as Johnson, matched a description provided by store personnel.
The deputy observed Johnson and a woman, identified as Campbell, on video surveillance taking items from packaging and concealing them inside a bag. Campbell was released on a summons to appear in court Nov. 14. Johnson was jailed with no bail set.
—Dalaina Rentrop, 21, of the 300 block of La. 663 in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:36 p.m. Sunday for disturbing the peace intoxicated. A deputy responded to a complaint of an intoxicated person causing a disturbance at a business in Amelia. The deputy made contact with Rentrop and observed her to be highly intoxicated. Rentrop refused to leave the business, Hebert said.
While speaking with the deputy, Rentrop used profanity and swung her arms repeatedly nearly striking other people nearby, Hebert said. Because of her intoxicated condition, Rentrop was transported to a hospital. While there, she attempted to kick medical personnel, the sheriff said. Rentrop was jailed with bail set at $500.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Anthony L. Watson Jr., 23, of Barrow Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:35 p.m. Friday for possession of Schedule I marijuana second offense and illegal possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
Officers responded to a domestic dispute at a Barrow Street residence. After officers arrived to investigate the complaint, they observed illegal narcotics in plain view inside the residence, Banks said. Detectives were summoned and a search warrant for the residence obtained. During the search, officers located suspected marijuana along with a .380-caliber handgun which was also seized. Watson was jailed.
—Jermoud E. Watts, 24, of Brashear Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:33 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to pay a fine for theft, a warrant for probation and parole, resisting an officer by giving false information, and possession of Schedule II cocaine second offense, and obstruction of justice.
An officer observed Watts in the area of Fifth Street and Brashear Avenue and was aware of an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The officer detained Watts who provided the officer with a fictitious name in order to conceal his identity, Banks said. Watts was eventually positively identified and placed under arrest on the outstanding warrants. Watts was placed in the rear of a police unit for transport to the Morgan City Police Department. While in the police unit, Watts attempted to discard a cellophane bag which was found to contain suspected crack cocaine, Banks said. The bag was seized and Watts was jailed.
—Matthew J. Miller, 20, of Gen. Clark Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:40 p.m. Saturday for resisting an officer, possession of Schedule I marijuana third offense, on a warrant for theft, a warrant for failure to pay probation fee, a warrant for possession of Schedule I marijuana, a warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia, and a warrant for resisting an officer.
An officer observed Miller in the area of the 200 block of Federal Avenue and was aware of outstanding warrants. The officer approached Miller and attempted to detain him, however, Miller fled on foot from the officer and a chase ensued. Miller was located hiding under an RV in the area and placed under arrest. He was also found to be in possession of suspected marijuana, Banks said. He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he remains incarcerated.
—Rachel L. King, 30, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:26 p.m. Sunday for remaining where forbidden, resisting an officer, possession of Schedule IV Alprazolam, and appearing in public intoxicated.
Officers were summoned to a La. 182 lounge in regard to a disturbance. Officers were advised that a female had caused a disturbance and refused to leave the premises.
Officers located the suspect who began to become belligerent, yell profanities and caused a disturbance, Banks said. As officers attempted to arrest King, she began to struggle with officers and had to be physically restrained, Banks said. Upon her arrest, King was found to be in possession of a pill identified as Alprazolam, and was additionally charged. She was jailed.
—Shantell N. Thomas, 32, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:36 a.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear/pay a fee for criminal trespass. Thomas was located by an officer near Brashear Avenue and Sixth Street and was jailed.
—Joseph Percle, 27, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:30 p.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to pay fine for simple battery domestic. Percle was transported to the Morgan City Jail from the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on a City Court warrant.
—Joseph O. Robertson, 48, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:44 p.m. Friday for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers investigating a suspected theft at a La. 182 convenience store were advised of a possible theft and suspect who had left the premises. Officers located the suspect at a La. 182 motel and identified him as Robertson. While investigating the theft, officers located suspected marijuana and items of paraphernalia in the possession of Robertson, Banks said. He was jailed. No evidence was recovered which implicated Robertson in a theft, Banks said.
—Courtland Carter, 26, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:31 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for child support. Officers responded to a domestic complaint at a Fifth Street residence and came into contact with Carter. It was determined that Carter was wanted on an outstanding warrant for contempt of court-failure to pay child support for the 16th Judicial District Court. He was jailed.
—Clifton J. Martin, 51, of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:34 p.m. Saturday for possession of Schedule I marijuana.
Officers responded to a complaint of a suspicious person at Lake End Park in Morgan City. As officers approached the person, he was observed attempting to conceal a cellophane bag inside his vehicle, Banks said. The officers recovered the bag and found it to contain suspected marijuana, Banks said. Martin was jailed.
—Glenn D. Loyd, 47, of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 8:40 p.m. Saturday for operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license second offense, and improper lane usage.
An officer observed a vehicle make an improper turn in the area of Cottonwood Street and La. 182 and stopped the vehicle to investigate. The driver, Loyd, was jailed.
—John W. Ross, 46, of Keith Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:28 p.m. Saturday for appearing intoxicated in public.
—Michael W. Forristal, 42, of Morgan City, was arrested at 9:28 p.m. Saturday for appearing intoxicated in public.
Officers received a complaint of two people who appeared intoxicated in the traffic lanes of La. 182 near Roderick Street who had almost been struck by a vehicle. The officers located the subjects in the area and found the subjects to be intoxicated. Forristal and Ross were jailed.
—Norvin M. Butirres, 34, of Spruce Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:14 a.m. Sunday for improper lane usage and no driver’s license.
An officer observed a vehicle being driven in a careless manner in the area of La. 182 and 11th Street and stopped the vehicle to investigate. The driver of the vehicle, Butirres, was jailed.
—Frank M. Adams, 22, of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:24 a.m. Sunday for switched license plates and driving under suspension. An officer observed a vehicle in the area of Sixth Street and Brashear Avenue, which displayed switched license plates. The officers stopped the vehicle and detained the driver, Adams, who was jailed.
—Donvin W. Mingo, 39, of First Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:22 p.m. Sunday for no driver’s license, improper turning, and no motor vehicle insurance.
An officer observed a vehicle make an improper turn in the area of Orange Street and Federal Avenue and stopped the vehicle to investigate. The driver, Mingo, was jailed and released after posting cash bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Jacob Hanks, 25, of the 3200 block of First Street in Berwick, was arrested at 1:17 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear for littering. Hanks was jailed.
—Jasmen Harvey, 23, of the 400 block of E Street in Houma, was arrested at 7:23 p.m. Sunday for simple battery. Harvey was released.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Gilbert Wilson, 33, of the 400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Patterson, was arrested at 10:29 p.m. Saturday for disturbing the peace by language and resisting an officer. Wilson was released after paying a fine.
—Brian Charles Turner Jr., 21, of the 100 block of Domino Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 12:23 a.m. Sunday for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Turner was jailed.
—A juvenile, 16, of Patterson, was arrested at 12:23 a.m. Sunday for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of alcohol by people under age 21, and for resisting an officer.
