Berwick police warn of scammers

Berwick police received reports of scammers calling people Friday in the town, claiming that the victims owe money to the town or social security administration.

Police Chief James Richard says the calls are a scam and reminds people to be cautious before sending any caller money.

The callers indicated that the complainants had to get money immediately to stop the police from going to their homes, Richard said.

It's "the typical scam that's done occasionally," Richard said.
