Kyle Valdez, an eighth-grader at Berwick Junior High School, won the 13-year-old division of the Knights of Columbus Regional free-throw tournament at Church Point High School Sunday. Valdez nailed 21 of 25 free throws to
advance to the state championship at Teurlings Catholic High School in Lafayette on March 12. Valdez previously won the Council and District competitions.
