The Knights of Columbus District Free Throw competition was held recently at Berwick Junior High. Boys winners included Bryson Trahan of Centerville High School (10-year-old division), Hayden Robinson of Berwick Junior High (11-yearold division), Kyler Paul of Berwick Junior High (12-year-old division), Landon Lanclos of Centerville High School (13-year-old division) and Blain Louviere of Berwick High (14-year-old division). Kyle Valdez, an eighth-grader at Berwick Junior High School, won the 13-year-old division of the Knights of Columbus Regional free-throw tournament at Church Point High School Sunday. Valdez nailed 21 of 25 free throws to
advance to the state championship at Teurlings Catholic High School in Lafayette on March 12. Valdez previously won the Council and District competitions. The Patterson Knights of Columbus Bayou Vista Council 6211 sponsored a free-throw shooting contest at Berwick Junior High Jan. 12-13. All champions advanced to the district contest held Feb. 3 at Patterson Junior High. The winners
of that competition will advance to the Diocese competition Feb. 21 and finally, state, to be held at Teurlings Catholic March 12.
