CCHS routs Highland Baptist, 75-13

The Central Catholic Lady Eagles kept cruising through District 7-1A action Friday with a 75-13 victory against Highland Baptist.
The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 26-0 first quarter lead and took a 37-7 advantage into halftime.
Central Catholic continued its domination in the second half, outscoring Highland Baptist 38-6.
In the contest, the Lady Eagles had 27 steals and just seven turnovers.
Meo Knight led the Lady Eagles with a triple-double with 25 points, 11 steals, 10 rebounds and five assists, while Randi Brown contributed a double-double with 21 points, 10 rebounds, six steals and six assists.
Other top contributors included Megan Landry, 11 points, seven rebounds; four steals, one block and two assists; Mary-Beth Blanchard, five points, one block, one assist and one rebound; Gee Garrett, four points, one steal and three rebounds; and Anastasia Johnson, four points and two rebounds.
Central Catholic (20-2 overall, 8-0) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to Abbeville to face Vermilion Catholic in a District 7-1A showdown that has big-time district championship implications.
Both teams also are at the top of Class 1A. Central Catholic enters the game ranked No. 1 in Class 1A in the latest unofficial power rankings, while Vermilion Catholic is No. 3.
Earlier this season in Morgan City, Central Catholic defeated Vermilion Catholic 53-35.
Tuesday’s game will be broadcast on KBZE 105.9 FM and KFRA 1390 AM.
Patterson defeats
Berwick
The Patterson Lumberjills defeated the Berwick Lady Panthers 50-18 in District 9-3A action in Patterson Friday.
Patterson jumped out to a 13-4 lead after the first quarter and led 26-6 at the half and 38-8 after three quarters.
Galen Grogan led Patterson with 16 points, while Nyla Holder and Jazmin Evans each scored seven; Kemprielle Williams, five; and Jamiri Brown and Makayla Ruiz, each four.
Mickenzie Reed led Berwick with six points, while McKenzie Baumgartner and Kayla Francis each scored four.
In Thursday’s 61-33 loss to E.D. White, Grogan led Patterson with 10 points; Ruiz, seven; Evans, six; Nia Broussard, five; and Williams, four.
Berwick (2-19, 0-5) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts E.D. White at 6:30 p.m., while Patterson (9-14, 3-2) will host Franklin.
Assumption routs
Morgan City
Assumption outscored Morgan City in every quarter en route to a 70-35 victory in District 7-4A action in Napoleonville Friday.
The Lady Mustangs led 16-10 after the first quarter, 29-18 at the half and 50-28 after three quarters.
Laqwajhia Bourgeois led the Lady Tigers with 18 points, while Kaylyn Washington and Casey Chenevert each scored seven and Meya Morse added three.
Morgan City (12-8 overall, 1-4) will return to action Wednesday when it travels to take on South Terrebonne in a 6 p.m. contest. The game is a makeup from a contest last month that was canceled due to the cold weather.
