Lumberjills finish 3-0 at weekend tournament

The Patterson Lumberjills finished 3-0 at the second annual Ned Stephens Memorial Tournament this weekend at Kemper Williams Park.
Patterson defeated Highland Baptist 17-7 and De La Salle 12-1, both in action Friday, while on Saturday, the squad knocked off Loreauville 11-8.
Taylor Hall earned the win for Patterson in all three games. No other individual statistics were available.
Patterson (4-0) will return to action today when it travels to face Covenant Christian in a 5 p.m. contest.
Berwick is winless
this weekend
The Berwick Lady Panthers finished 0-2 at the Lady Panther classic this weekend, falling in one-run games to Catholic High-New Iberia and Teurlings Catholic.
Against Catholic High, the Lady Panthers fell 6-5, while Teurlings edged the Lady Panthers in the next game, 8-7.
No individual stats were available for either contest.
Teurlings defeated Catholic High in the tournament finale, 7-1.
Berwick (3-4) will return to action today when it travels to face Thibodaux in a 3:30 p.m. contest. The game was moved up as a precaution due to inclement weather expected Tuesday.
MCHS goes 1-2
at Hahnville Tournament
The Morgan City Lady Tigers finished 1-2 this weekend in the Hahnville Tournament with a run-rule win sandwiched between two run-rule losses.
On Friday, Mount Carmel defeated the Lady Tigers 18-1 in five innings, while on Saturday, Morgan City responded with a 16-1 victory against Redemptorist in three innings. Morgan City fell to Archbishop Chappelle in its tournament finale, 10-0, in five innings.
In Friday’s loss, Mount Carmel broke open a scoreless game with five runs in the third and eight more in the fourth for a 13-0 lead.
Morgan City scored a run in the bottom of the fourth, but Mount Carmel plated five more in the top of the fifth.
The Lady Tigers committed four errors in the contest, while Mount Carmel pounded out 15 hits.
Morgan City was limited to a hit as Marilynn Bailey finished 1-for-2 with a double and a run. Teammate Brandi Ingram drove her in for the Lady Tigers’ RBI.
Tyler Hebert suffered the loss for the Lady Tigers. In four innings she surrendered 13 runs — just six earned — on 12 hits with two walks and fanned two and hit four batters.
Of Mount Carmel’s 18 runs, just eight were earned.
Against Redemptorist, Morgan City responded from a 1-0 first-inning deficit with 16 unanswered runs. The Lady Tigers plated four in the bottom of the first, 10 in the second and two more in the bottom of the third to end the game via mercy rule.
Morgan City outhit Redemptorist 10-2 in the contest.
Aliya Green led the Lady Tigers with a 3-for-3 performance with a double, a home run, four RBIs and two runs. Other top contributors included Ingram, 2-for-3, three RBIs, four stolen bases and three runs; Brandi Albarado, 1-for-3, two RBIs; and Hannah Falgout, 1-for-3, a double, an RBI, two stolen bases and three runs.
Hebert pitched two innings and surrendered an earned run on two hits and fanned six.
Reagan Barbier pitched an inning and surrendered no runs or hits and fanned one.
Against Chappelle, the Metairie school scored all of its runs in the first three innings, plating four in the first, three in the second and three more in the third.
Chappelle outhit Morgan City 13-1, with the Lady Tigers’ hit coming off the bat of Falgout, who finished 1-for-2.
Hebert took the loss. In five innings, she surrendered 10 runs — eight earned — on 13 hits with three walks and fanned one and hit a batter.
Morgan City (5-3) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts Lutcher in a 4 p.m. contest.
