A century and more

Sylvania Aucoin Verret celebrated her 101st birthday Monday at Morgan City Health Care Center. Residents and family members attended the celebration including her two brothers, Eugene Aucoin, 98, of Chicot, and August Aucoin, 90, of Gibson. Her daughters said she attributes her longevity to good genes, no smoking, no drinking, hard work and faith in God. Attendees sang Happy Birthday to her Monday.
