Morgan City woman accused of battery

A 40-year-old Morgan City woman was charged with battery Friday after going to the victim’s residence, striking the victim and damaging her cell phone, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Anita M. Steel, 40, of Freret Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:47 p.m. Friday on the charges of simple battery and simple criminal damage to property less than $750.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Halsey Street in regard to a disturbance. When officers arrived, the victim stated that Steel had come to her residence and started a verbal altercation, Blair said.
Steel then struck the victim and also damaged her cell phone, Blair said. Officers noticed marks on the victim, the chief said. Steel was located on Freret Street and admitted to hitting the victim, Blair said. She was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Andrew J. Rodriguez, 29, of Morgan City, was arrested at 9:53 a.m. Friday on a warrant charging him with failure to appear for trial. Rodriguez was already incarcerated in the jail and was re-booked.
—Inez M. Robinson, 44, of Adams Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:50 a.m. Friday on a warrant charging her with simple battery. Robinson turned herself in to police and was released on bail.
—Giang Duval, 33, of Halsey Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:17 p.m. Friday on the charges of resisting an officer, possession of Schedule I marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Shenice Wood, 22, of Halsey Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:17 p.m. Friday on the charges of possession of Schedule I marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Halsey Street in regard to a disturbance. Wood told officers she and her boyfriend, Duval, were arguing and she wanted him to leave the residence, Blair said. When officers went to speak to Duval, they noticed a pipe commonly used to smoke illegal narcotics, Blair said. Officers also noticed suspected marijuana, Blair said. Both Wood and Duval were jailed.
—Michael Crouch, 29, of Third Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:04 p.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear to pay a fine.
A patrolling officer in the area of Brashear and Federal avenues conducted a traffic stop. The passenger in the vehicle, Crouch, was jailed.
––Trey Simoneaux, 31, of Patterson, was arrested at 1:17 a.m. Friday on the charges of improper lane usage, driving under suspension, a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of expired inspection sticker, warrant charging him with simple assault, warrant for failure to appear on the charge of contempt of court and on a warrant for failure to appear for sentencing.
A patrol officer observed a vehicle traveling on La. 182 cross in and out of his travel lane several times. The officer conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Simoneaux. He was jailed.
—Michael A. Francois, 24, of Lawrence Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:37 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of a vehicle with required equipment or in unsafe condition and driving under suspension.
A patrolling officer in the area of Federal Avenue near Onstead Street observed a vehicle with a damaged windshield on the driver’s side causing the driver’s view to be obstructed. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The officer asked the driver, Francois, for his driver’s license. Through a computer check it was determined that Francois’ driver’s license was under suspension. Francois was jailed and released on bail.
—Janet M. Stonebraker, 18, of Morgan City, was arrested at 5:17 p.m. Wednesday on warrants for possession of Schedule l marijuana, possession of Schedule II Vyvanse, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of a uniform controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone). Stonebraker turned herself in to the Morgan City Police Department and was jailed.
—Morgan A. Young, 31, of Lafayette, was arrested at 1:37 a.m. Thursday on the charges of failure to signal 100 feet prior to an intersection, resisting an officer by giving false information, possession of Schedule I marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear.
An officer in the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard noticed a vehicle fail to use a turn signal. The officer conducted a traffic stop.
Officers located suspected marijuana and items commonly used to smoke suspected marijuana in the vehicle, police said.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 130 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Patrick McEniry, 46, of the 100 block of Jupiter Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:21 a.m. Saturday on the charge of disturbing the peace intoxicated. A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a residence on Jupiter Street in Bayou Vista, Hebert said. The deputy made contact with McEniry and observed that he was highly intoxicated.
During the investigation, McEniry began yelling outside of the residence causing a disturbance in the neighborhood. McEniry was released on a summons.
Aug. 19.
—William Doucet, 48, of the 600 block of Emory Landing Road in Deridder, was arrested at 9:42 p.m. Saturday for unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of Schedule II methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
After receiving a complaint of an unauthorized entry, a deputy was dispatched to the residence on Henry Street in the Patterson area. During the investigation, the deputy learned that the complainant hired Doucet to do some work on the residence.
While the homeowner was away, Doucet entered into the residence without the owner’s permission. The deputy also learned of the active warrant for Doucet’s arrest. Doucet was jailed with no bail set.
—Celeste Foster, 31, of the 300 block of Capri Court in Houma, was arrested at 10:20 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of driving under suspension. A deputy responding to a separate complaint made contact with Foster and learned of the active warrant for her arrest. Foster was jailed with no bail set.
—Matt Malkemus, 27, of the 100 block of Francis Street in Amelia, was arrested at 11:54 p.m. Saturday on the charge of disturbing the peace intoxicated. A deputy responded to a request to remove a person from a bar on La. 182 in Amelia, Hebert said.
Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Malkemus and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. The deputy then learned from security personnel that Malkemus was attempting to fight other patrons at the bar. The deputy transported Malkemus to the parish jail for booking. Malkemus was later released on a summons to appear in court Aug. 19.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Russell E. Plaisance, 33, of the 500 block of Rue Carnot in Carencro, was arrested at 3:45 a.m. Thursday on the charges of speeding 73 mph in a 55 mph zone, driving under suspension and possession of marijuana. No bail was set yet.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Christopher Oubre, 19, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:07 a.m. Wednesday on the charges of theft of goods, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana second offense, possession of Xanax and possession of drug paraphernalia. Oubre was awaiting bail to be set.
