Police Reports 1-29-15

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
Melvin Sylvester Sr., 54, of 1412 James St., Morgan City, was arrested Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. on charges of resisting an officer by giving false information, flight from an officer, criminal trespassing, battery on an officer, disturbing the peace by foul language, illegal possession of stolen firearms, possession of or carrying of a concealed weapon by a convicted felon, public intimidation and retaliation and three failure to appear warrants on charges of criminal neglect of family with bonds totaling $9,874. No bond was set on the other charges.
Narcotics Division agents arrested Renwic White, 23, of 1325 Martin Luther King Road, Baldwin, Wednesday at 5:03 p.m. on charges of second offense possession of marijuana and possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute. No bond was set.
Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the arrest of Laura Newbaker, 31, of Lee Charles Street, Franklin, Wednesday at 3:12 p.m. on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on $1,500 bond.
Richard Welch Jr., 51, of Perret Street, Franklin, was arrested Wednesday at 3:12 p.m. on warrants charging him with theft by shoplifting and he was also charged with resisting an office by giving false information. He was held on $2,000 bond.
