Acadian Ambulance personnel and Morgan City police tend to an injured black male as he lies on the ground this morning on the corner of Levee Road and Lawrence Street in Morgan City. Multiple gunshots were reported fired at around 10 a.m. there and at Orange and Federal streets, one block from Maitland Elementary School.
Morgan City police place evidence markers next to bullet casings this morning at Federal Avenue and Orange Street. A black male in a white Lexus was wounded at Lawrence Street and Levee Road. Multiple shots were reported at about 10 a.m. A lockdown at Maitland Elementary, Norman Elementary, Central Catholic High and Holy Cross Elementary schools were lifted by noon. Superintendent Donald Aguillard said he had been told the shooter was believed to be in the area, possibly in a nearby house.

Shooting in Morgan City Monday morning

Two people were injured after gunshots were reported this morning in the area of Lawrence Street and Federal Avenue, and police are looking for a suspect, Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch said.
The shooting victims were identified as Don Brown, 30, and Eric Charles, 22. No addresses were given. Brown sustained a non-life threatening wound to his side and was taken to Teche Regional Medical Center. Charles suffered a wound to his leg, and was an innocent bystander according to witnesses, Crouch said. 
A suspect in the case was identified as Barron F. Kenner, 40, who has both Morgan City and Berwick addresses. 
No motive has been found yet in the shooting, Crouch said. Police located a suspect vehicle on First Street, Crouch said.
