Teachers receive development rewards

Teachers at Maitland Elementary in Morgan City received checks Tuesday for their participation in the TAP program. TAP is a comprehensive school reform that provides opportunities for career advancement, professional growth, performance evaluation and competitive compensation, according to the state Department of Education website. During the 2012-13 school year, Maitland teachers received four scripted classroom observations from TAP certified evaluators, had positive student assessment growth and received a favorable TAP program evaluation from an external evaluator. Below, from left, are Celeste Pipes, Shemera Johnson, Melinda Thomas, Sedonia Lousteau, Master Teacher Katie Hunter, Angela Brinkley, Michael Glatter, Allison Delatte, Principal Tonia Verrette, Kristal Eimer, Vanessa Jackson, Superintendent Donald Aguillard, Veronica Governale, Rebecca Domangue, Monica Governale, Natalie Duval, Richard Weathers and Laura Cortez.
