The Morgan City Junior High School girls’ basketball team is holding a barbeque dinner fundraiser Jan. 18 to raise money to attend the Middle School Multi-State Championship at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, an event the Lady Tigers were chosen to attend Jan. 31-Feb. 1. The team is accepting both monetary donations for the trip, which head coach Allise Jennings estimated will cost $2,200, and food for the fundraiser. Those interested in helping should call Jennings at 985-714-3966. All checks should be made payable to Morgan City Junior High School. Morgan City’s squad, which is 6-0 this season, includes, back row, manager Jamia Francois, Katie Brooks, Terr’yan Johnson, Deryon Johnson, India Bennet, Alissa Julien, Sh’Diamond Holly and manager Anaria Clark. On the middle row are manager Amari Garrett, Hailey Lewis, Nia Lightfoot, Alira Clark, Indeara Chenvert, Ke’Tasha Williams and manager Kur’Lyiah Johnson. Morgan City Junior High School’s Honor Society is holding a car wash fundraiser 9 a.m. to noon Saturday in the Elm Street side parking lot of the school. Tickets are $10 per vehicle. Donations from Napa Auto Parts, Tiger Island, O’Reilly’s Auto Parts and AutoZone made the car wash possible.
