Participants sought for Shrimp & Petroleum festival Blessing of the Fleet and Water Parade
Louisiana Shrimp & Petroleum Festival organizers are seeking participants for the annual Blessing of the Fleet and Water Parade to be held Labor Day weekend, Aug. 28 to Sept. 1.
The Blessing of the Fleet and the Water Parade are sponsored by Tidewater.
The Blessing of the Fleet will begin at approximately 10 a.m. Aug. 31 in the Atchafalaya River at Morgan City.
Registration forms and flags, which will be used to identify participants, can be obtained through the festival office after Aug. 6.
Festival organizers remind boat owners that no vessel will be allowed into the waterway during the Blessing of the Fleet and Water Parade that is not registered and flying the registration flag. There is no charge to register vessels.
The deadline for registering vessels is noon Aug. 28.
