Morgan City man, asleep at the wheel, gets arrested

A 30-year-old Morgan City man faces charges for drunken driving, reckless driving and resisting an officer after police received a report this morning of a driver asleep at the wheel, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Hector Hernandez, 30, of Willard Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:51 a.m. today on the charges of reckless operation of a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, resisting an officer, no driver’s license and obstructing public passage.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Sixth Street and Brashear Avenue in regard to a driver asleep at the wheel.
When officers arrived at the location, the driver, Hernandez, appeared to be sleeping. When Hernandez noticed officers, he drove away from the location, Blair said.
Officers were able to stop the vehicle, Blair said.
Officers observed a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from him, Blair said. Hernandez registered 0.206 grams-percent blood alcohol concentration. He was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Alec Robinson, 18, of Morgan City, was arrested at 8:59 a.m. Thursday on a warrant charging him with theft less than $750.
The warrant stems from an April 22 incident in which a cell phone was reported stolen from Morgan City High School.
Police used video surveillance to identify Robinson as a suspect.
A warrant was then issued for Robinson’s arrest. Officers were able to locate Robinson at Morgan City High School, and he was jailed.
—Leslie Skinner, 46, of Ramos Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:49 a.m. Thursday on a warrant charging her with theft less than $750.
The warrant stems from an incident that took place April 15 in regard to a wallet reported stolen from a local business, Blair said. Skinner was named a suspect through video surveillance. He was jailed.
—Byron McGraw, 42, of Houma, was arrested at 8:57 p.m. Thursday on the charge of domestic abuse battery.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Pecos Street in regard to a disturbance.
Officers spoke to the victim, who claimed her boyfriend, McGraw, struck her in the face, Blair said. Officers noticed marks consistent with the victim’s statement, Blair said.
Officers located McGraw inside of the residence, who stated he and the victim got into a verbal altercation. McGraw was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 38 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Blaise K. Crane, 21, of the 800 block of Parish Road 131 in Franklin, was arrested at 9:04 p.m. Thursday on the charges of simple battery and criminal damage to property.
A deputy responded to a residence in Verdunville in reference to a complaint of a battery that took place at Crane’s residence on Parish Road 131.
The deputy learned that Crane struck a man in the face, breaking the victim’s glasses, Hebert said. Crane was jailed and released on $1,000 bail.
—Jeffery Gollotte, 45, of the 200 block of Utah Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:06 a.m. Thursday on a warrant charging him with failure to pay monthly spousal support.
A deputy with the Warrants Division located Gollotte in the parking lot of the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin. No bail is set.
—Austin Thomassie, 17, of the 100 block of River View Road in Patterson, was arrested at 12:26 p.m. Thursday, charging him with hit and run driving.
A deputy investigating a complaint of a hit and run crash that occurred April 24 in a parking lot on Lake Palourde Road located the suspect vehicle at a residence on River View Road.
The deputy identified Thomassie as the person who was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash. Thomassie was released on a summons to appear in court July 22
—Altie Drashner, 39, whose last known address is in Cripple Creek, Colorado, was arrested at 3:22 p.m. Thursday on the charge of disturbing the peace fighting.
—Warren Mcleod, 52, whose last known address is in New Orleans, was arrested at 3:22 p.m. Thursday on the charge of disturbing the peace fighting.
A deputy responded to a complaint of a fight in a parking lot on La. 70 in Morgan City.
The deputy learned that Drashner and Mcleod struck each other during an altercation, Hebert said.
Both were released on summonses to appear in court July 22.
—A juvenile female, 15, of Amelia, was arrested at 7:06 p.m. Thursday on the charge of simple battery.
A deputy responded to a residence in Amelia in reference to a report of a fight. The deputy learned that the 15-year-old girl grabbed another girl by the hair and struck her, Hebert said.
The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—William Leblanc Sr., 59, of the 1400 block of Canal Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:31 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family.
A deputy made contact with Leblanc on Canal Road and learned of the active warrant for his arrest. Bail is set at $18,409.10.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Anderson Singleton, 49, of the 500 block of Tiffany Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:58 a.m. Thursday on the charges of attempted burglary of a vehicle and criminal trespassing.
Singleton was jailed with no bail set yet.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Darla Percle, 27, of Rose Street in Berwick, was arrested at 9:44 p.m. Thursday on the charge of theft by shoplifting. Percle was released on $300 cash bail.
