Berwick Mayor Louis Ratcliff, Morgan City Mayor Frank “Boo” Grizzaffi and Patterson Mayor Rodney Grogan sign proclamations Thursday declaring May 2-10 National Travel and Tourism Week in their respective cities. The tourism industry in St. Mary Parish generates $159.5 million in spending annually, supports nearly 1,700 jobs and $33.8 million in payroll, and generates $4.54 million in state taxes along with $2.71 million in parish taxes. Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne will kick off tourism week in Louisiana at the Cajun Coast Visitors & Convention Bureau’s Morgan City office at 6 p.m. Monday At the same time, Cajun Coast will unveil its new interpretative center components. The public is invited.
