Berwick man faces rape charge

A 24-year-old Berwick man, charged with the rape of a 16-year-old girl, was transferred to Morgan City jail from Ascension Parish Wednesday, according to a Morgan City Police news release.
—Tyler M. Kapp, 24, of Fifth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 12:38 p.m. Wednesday on warrants charging him with forcible rape, contempt of court, failure to appear and probation violation.
Kapp was transported from the Ascension Parish Jail to the Morgan City Police Department for outstanding warrants. The warrants stem from an investigation conducted by the Morgan City Police Detective Division in May, which alleges that Kapp forcibly raped a 16-year-old girl, police said. Kapp also has outstanding warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court. Kapp was incarcerated.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Tiearra A. Wilson, 29, of Ciro Street in Morgan City, at 4:13 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of possession of Schedule I marijuana, possession of Schedule II cocaine second offense, possession of Schedule II Oxycodone second offense and introduction of contraband into a penal institution.
A patrol officer in the area of La. 182 and Martin Luther King Boulevard observed a vehicle with improper lighting and conducted a traffic stop. Wilson, a passenger in the vehicle, was found to have suspected marijuana and Oxycodone on her, Blair said. Wilson was placed under arrest and jailed. Once at the police department, a correctional officer located suspected cocaine on Wilson. She was additionally charged.
—Kevin J. Gant, 28, of Grout Street in Patterson, at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with failure to return leased movable.
Gant was transported from the Patterson Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department for an outstanding warrant. The warrant stems a complaint in October 2014, in which Gant is alleged to have leased items from a rent-to-own store and never returned the items, Blair said. He was jailed.
—Timothy Faulk, 38, of Morgan City, at 9:43 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of self-mutilation by a prisoner.
A correctional officer observed Faulk, who was already incarcerated in the Morgan City Police Department jail, cutting his arms with a sharp object, Blair said. Faulk was given medical attention and additionally charged.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 35 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Renetta Clark, 52, of the 400 block of Verdun Lane in Verdunville, at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday on warrants charging her with simple battery, failure to appear on the charge of simple assault and disturbing the peace, and for probation violation.
A deputy made contact with Clark at her residence on the warrants. The warrant for simple battery stems from an investigation into a complaint of a battery. The deputy learned that Clark struck a man on the back of the head repeatedly, Hebert said. Clark was jailed with no bail set.
—Rainnie L. Simon, 23, of the 300 block of Venus Street in Bayou Vista, at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of violation of the parish ordinance leash law. A deputy responded to an animal complaint in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy located a dog on the loose in the area, Hebert said. The deputy made contact with the dog’s owner, Simon. The deputy spoke with Simon about the parish leash law and released her on a summons to appear in court Sept. 16.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Jamie Gray, 44, of Egle Street in Morgan City, at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of driving under suspension and stop sign violation. Gray posted $1,250 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
