MELVIN PAUL BARRIOS
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at 1 p.m., in First Baptist Church of Youngsville, for Melvin Paul Barrios, 49, who died on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
The Rev. Chris Fuselier will conduct the memorial service.
Survivors include his wife, Joani Houston Barrios; his sons, Thad Barrios and wife, Kathleen; Zachary Barrios and Austin Barrios; his mother, Kathy Barrios; his sisters, Kimberly Stroup and husband, Ron; and Mindy Andrews and husband, Robert; his in-laws, Sam and Mary Houston; his sister in law, Patti Olds; his brothers in law, Rodney Houston and wife, Monique; and Jason Houston and wife, Angie; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Milton Barrios; his cousin, Steve Shafer; and his brother in law, Lonnie Olds Jr.
A native of Morgan City, raised in Elk City, OK, Paul was a resident of Youngsville for 14 years. He worked many years in the oilfield with Tide Water Marine and M.I. SWACO. Paul was currently working for BYYA and Lafayette Consolidated Government as the field maintenance supervisor. He loved showing horses, cooking for family and friends, baseball, and was very involved in his son’s sports activities. He will be best remembered for his sense of humor, contagious laugh and his love for his family. He will be deeply missed.
Honorary pallbearers will be Thad, Zachary and Austin Barrios, Cody and Hunter Olds and Blake Johnson.
The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church of Youngsville on Saturday from 12 Noon until the service. A reception will follow in the adjacent Fellowship Hall.
