EMORY CHARLES BESSE
August 29, 1935- August 24, 1935
Emory Charles Besse, 79, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at Maison Jardin.
Emory was born on Aug. 29, 1935, in Morgan City, the son of Eugene and Andrea Bolotte Besse.
He was a devout parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church where he served as a reader and Eucharistic minister. He was also an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus Holy Cross Council 12179 and the Monsignor Jules S. Toups Assembly 2076. As a young man, he served his country as a member of the Louisiana National Guard. While his children were growing up, he also contributed his time as a Boy Scout Leader. He worked for Franklin Supply Company for 31 years and upon his retirement began working for the St. Mary School Board, where he worked for 24 years.
Emory will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Mary Besse of Morgan City; three sons, Steven Besse of Lafayette, Christopher Besse and wife, Kristin, of Greenwell Springs, and Timothy Besse and wife, Kimberly, of Morgan City; two daughters, Kathy LaBouve and husband, Lonnie, of Berwick, and Judith Besse Bergeron and husband, Ted, of Morgan City; one sister, Patricia Manuel of Atlanta; 13 grandchildren, Ricky, Lee, Stevie, Teddy, Megan, Derek, Austin, Cameron, Tyler, Brennan, Katelyn, Hunter and Andrew; and four great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis Besse; brothers, Charles “Chuck” Besse, Eugene Besse and George Besse; sisters, Anna Besse, Josephine Delaune and Claudia Elstein; and a grandson, Travis LaBouve.
Visitation will be held at Twin City Funeral Home today, Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation will resume at Holy Cross Catholic Church Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, from 10 a.m. until the mass. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at noon Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015. Emory will be laid to rest at Morgan City Cemetery following Mass.
