EVELYN JOSEPHONE IRWIN POTTER

Evelyn Josephine Irwin Potter, a native of White Castle and a resident of Patterson, passed away on Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, at the age of 74.
Evelyn was a loving wife of 50 years to her husband, Jerry Potter; mother to her precious dog, Sussie; and a sister, aunt, godmother and friend.
In the early years of marriage, Evelyn held a variety of jobs to put her husband through college. Bailing hay, driving a wheat truck, and riveting aircrafts are just a few of those jobs. Beeche Aircraft recognized her with an award for being an outstanding employee. Loving, loyal, dedicated and hardworking are just a few of the traits that Evelyn possessed.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, Jerry Potter; two brothers, John Irwin Sr. and his wife, Bernice, and Rodney Irwin Jr.; sisters-in-law, Sissy Irwin, Charlotte Slater and Ila “Boots” Burgardt and her husband, Earl; as well as multiple nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her father and mother, Rodney and Lois Irwin; brothers, James “Jim” Irwin and Emmette Irwin; sisters, Margaret Irwin, Barbara Lynn Irwin Callegan and Doris “Dot” Irwin Benson; brother-in-law, Harold Slater; and sister-in-law, Jimmie Pemberton.
The family requests that visitation take place Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015, from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, from 9 a.m. until time of service at Our Lady of Prompt Succor of White Castle.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor. Evelyn will be laid to rest in the church cemetery following services.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Ochsner Hospital in Slidell, as well as the main campus in New Orleans, for the excellent care that was given to our loved one.
