NOLAN DUCHANE
A home-going celebration for Nolan Duchane, 98, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, at Fletcher Funeral Home, 609 West Admiral Doyle Drive, New Iberia, with the Rev. Adam Curley officiating.
Entombment will follow at Beau Pre Mausoleum in Jeanerette.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Masonic Ritual to begin at 10 a.m.
A native and resident of Jeanerette, Nolan passed at 10:41 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at his residence.
He was a member of Saint Peter United Methodist Church in Jeanerette, where he was involved in many church organizations. He was an educator at Hattie Watts School in Patterson, and served as educator and principal at Canal Street Elementary School in Jeanerette. In addition, he was the first black councilman for Iberia Parish.
He is survived by a devoted niece, Gloria G. Rubens of Detroit, Michigan; and several other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
